@ameliarchaeo @iteratix maybe could you ask for the name and contact info of interpreters or agency and contact them directly to see if they are available for the social event and how much more would it cost the organizers. that could give you better idea on how to respond to the rejection.
@ameliarchaeo hi hi - in a perfect world, yes! however, i think it has a lot to do with the contract they made with the individual or agency. with a flat day rate, you could set up a time block for terp during the conf like 10 am to 8 pm when social is from 5-7 pm to build in your schedule.
Yes, sign languages are beautiful but did you know hearing parents are told not to sign with their deaf children by hearing professionals and have to fork out thousands of £ of their own money to learn to sign and to talk to their own kids? #SignLanguageWeek
