@ficklefrontier Not a coincidence. They often signed peace treaties in Europe on Martinmas, the Feast of St. Martin of Tours to honor his devotion to peace. Originally Veterans Day was Armistice Day then was later changed to Veterans Day.
@JOKAQARMY1 St. Peter did not think himself worthy of being crucified the way Christ was. He was crucified upside down. Maybe you want to revise your post?
I think Italian you miss the point a bit. Yes folks should dress appropriately for mass but maybe stop focusing on the outside of the cup and start thinking about saving souls for eternity. Standards in dress are always in flux and changing. Maybe focus a bit more on the eternal part of this equation, the soul.
I think the part that feels out of line is when a moderator “fact checks” a candidate (as seeems to be the trend) as if they are arbiters of the truth. “A notable scientist disagrees how would you respond?” Or “why did so many courts disagree?” Are far more acceptable. But it is never the job of the moderator to tell candidates if they are right or wrong. That’s up to voters. It’s arrogant and misses the point of being a moderator.
@CollinRugg Seems to me I could have easily done the same thing hoping to give it to the flight attendant so someone did not lose it if passengers had to change plane. Feels like it was probably meant to be thoughtful.
@RalstonReports Has it occurred to anyone (I certainly have not seen it written) that all of the “reforms” that have caused elections results to be delayed in almost every cycle contribute significantly to the lack of public confidence in the results? Why has this story never been written?
There is a difference between caring about others personally and using government to force everyone to care for others. Stick to making sacrifices and helping others on your own and through private charities I guarantee the results will be much better than having a government agency do it. Not to mention government has become downright hostile toward religion lately.
