My uncle moved to the Twin Cities in 1988. A couple years later, he came back home with a gift for his memorabilia-crazed nephew: A T-Wolves basketball signed by Felton Spencer. It was on a shelf in my bedroom for years. I wish I knew where it ended up all these years later.
@StribSports Side note: Bud and I wound up at the hotel bar at the same time later that night, and he waved me over. No notebooks, no recorders. Just sat there and shot the breeze with me for about an hour. Truly one of the great pleasures of my career.
Bud Grant, man. Legend. Even for a Sconnie like me. I was fortunate to spend time in Winnipeg with Bud and Mike for a @StribSports feature in 2010. Brutal, icy gusts at Bombers Stadium that day. I was shivering, trying to take notes. Bud took it all in.
"It's a football wind."
Jerry Kelly makes the cut at the age of 56 and will be playing with Alex Smalley today.
Smalley was born in 1996, the same year that Kelly played in his first-ever Players Championship.
Johnny Pohl on the intermission report: "Edina has six kids 180 pounds or more."
Me, alone in the house, working the night shift, scarfing down fish sticks: "Must be all that cake."
I'm not even *from* here. It just slipped out.
Good info from Pat here for MN golf fans worried about the @3MOpen field: It's the second-to-last event before the start of the playoffs, and the field for the first playoff event has been reduced from 125 to 70 this year. That means many players will be hunting points come July.
Our @Patrick_Reusse asks: With the PGA Tour's new initiative, is the 3M Open, now held in the last week of July at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, doomed to a leaderboard of interchangeable nobodies? Actually, not all is lost. https://t.co/EhGWrDZ3mU
