Just rewatched all of Game 1 and here are my thoughts #NBAFinals
- Thought the Knicks half court offense was super stagnant all night. Not a ton of movement, probably hard to generate a flow with Wemby in the middle.
- Knicks were super physical on D, especially on Wemby. Not just KAT, who did an unbelievable job on him, but Hart and Mitch really bodied him
- Alvarado kept the Knicks afloat in the first half. High energy, big buckets, but controlled the offense and got KAT his touches
- Speaking of KAT, that third quarter is the best quarter of basketball I have ever seen Karl-Anthony Towns play. Both sides of the ball he was near perfect outside of 3 fouls in the first 3 minutes😂 incredible job by Towns to cut the Spurs lead. Really glad Mike Brown extended KATs minutes in that quarter and didnt sit him
- In that third, the Spurs had a LOT of chances to bury the Knicks. Lead never got out of hand and the Knicks clawed and clawed. The non Wemby minutes in the third kept the Knicks in the game with a Josh Hart led 7-0 run
- Ended the third with the Deuce corner bank shot fall from the heavens shot of destiny to tie up game after 3
- Brunson looked horrible outside of the stretch of Carter Bryant guarding him the first 3 quarters. But his nickname is Captain Clutch for a reason just took over down the stretch. He gets whatever he wants on Fox, Champagnie, Vassel
- OG back to back nuts corner threes in the fourth the one over Wemby is one of the toughest shots youll see go down
- Wemby goes out at 7:32 in a tie game and Josh Hart takes over from there. Rebounds, steals, transition buckets for Brunson. He was actually EVERYWHERE in the second half
Devin Vassell had a ton of really good looks and missed every single big shot attempt. I thought Barnes, Keldon, Bryant were atrocious out there. Wemby tried to be the hero but doesnt have that go to move to get a bucket on the perimeter yet, really good job by the Knicks on defense.
Watching it back, it felt like the Knicks stole game 1. Super stagnant on offense, off Brunson night but the way this team is playing as a defensive unit is incredible and that defense tenacity is translating to easy transition buckets.
That is a great team win and I expect the Knicks offense to look a lot faster tomorrow night
LeBron’s off the court team is one of the main reasons Bron gets as much hate as he does. They’re so busy trying to craft his legacy through narrative control that it’s off putting and looks inorganic.
The fact that there’s buzz around a high school soccer game is good, but it doesn’t mean that the quality is high or that players are going to develop well
The passion is something worth building on, but a lot would have to change about HS soccer for it to lead to better players
Soccer playing/coaching answer:
Hottest: 2010 Bluegrass Games. Heat index at 110 and games carried on. Sweat so much I couldn’t see to coach.
Coldest: 30 degrees in October game at Heath in 2000. Ball felt like a rock.
Wettest: 2002 game vs Mayfield. Whole field was a puddle.
Nebraska State Boys Soccer Championship drawing over 7500 fans is what y'all swear is bad for kids... and our club soccer system is what is good.
Got it.

Adulting is realizing;
1. You will die, and most people won’t care after a while.
2. People use you until you’re no longer useful.
3. Most people secretly want you to fail.
4. One day you’ll wish you started today.
5. Most people fake happiness while dying inside.
6. No one is coming to save you.
7. You’ll be judged no matter what you do.
8. Your health is your greatest wealth.
9. Happiness is temporary—discipline is permanent.
10. Success takes longer than you think.
11. No one respects weakness, even if they sympathize.
12. Complaining changes nothing.
13. Not everyone you love will love you back.
14. Money won’t solve all your problems—but it solves most.
15. Social media lies to you every day.
16. You’re replaceable at your job.
17. Life is unfair—get used to it.
18. One day, you’ll run out of days.
19. Regret hurts more than failure.
20. Nobody cares about your excuses. Work harder
The earlier you understand this, the better and easier your life gets.
