KENYANS, DO NOT FALL FOR THE DISTRACTION!

There is a political story making rounds that William Ruto was supposed to meet Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka at State House Nairobi today.

Stop. Look at the bigger picture.

If this story is being deliberately pushed into the public space, Kenyans must ask one question:

Who benefits from making Kalonzo's relationship with the opposition the centre of political speculation?

Because the opposition's greatest strength is not one individual. It is unity.

Kalonzo meeting fellow opposition leaders, consultations happening across political formations, and leaders beginning to coordinate their political future is exactly what a desperate incumbent would fear.

So suddenly, the conversation becomes:

"Will Ruto meet Kalonzo?"

Instead of:

"How do we unite Kenyans and build a credible alternative in 2027?"

That is the distraction.

Do not allow State House to turn the opposition's unity question into a personality drama.

And let nobody be fooled into believing that every invitation, rumour or political overture is evidence of a genuine partnership.

Kalonzo Musyoka has been in Kenyan politics long enough to understand the difference between an invitation and a strategy.

The opposition must remain focused.

Consult widely.
Build trust.
Negotiate honestly.
Agree on a common programme.
Protect the unity.

Because the easiest way to defeat a united opposition is not necessarily to fight it.

Divide it.

And that is why Kenyans must remain alert.

If there is a genuine political engagement, let it be transparent.

If there is a genuine offer, let it be made publicly.

But nobody should be allowed to use rumours of State House meetings to create suspicion between leaders who are supposed to be building a common political front.

The real story is not whether Kalonzo is going to State House.

The real story is whether Kenyans are finally building a united alternative powerful enough to send the current government home in 2027.

Do not lose sight of the chessboard because someone wants you staring at one chess piece.
