An incredibly deep and moving piece by @wired editor-chief @nxthompson who explores his lifelong relationship with running and recent training to break the 2:30 marathon barrier.
Grateful to have shared a part of Nick’s journey

Following a push by local preservationists, the planned final section of Brooklyn Bridge Park will be named after Emily Roebling, who oversaw the span's completion in 1883 https://t.co/6sZJ4aAAcR
NYC Parks are undefeated in 2020.
I am extremely grateful to the @NYCParks staff and NY Parks commissioner/fellow runner @mitchell_silver for keeping this essential resource powered and continuously expanding throughout the boroughs.
People ran the race this year in their own boroughs and neighborhoods. It was incredible work and proof that the spirit of this amazing race is still very much alive.
Congratulations to all who participated in the virtual NYC Marathon this past week! Not only within our local running crew scene but on Saturday I personally saw runners in small groups with bike escorts and support staff of friends in Brooklyn Queens, Bronx, and Manhattan.
And here he is on the left side of this photo...wearing my stolen shoes, hiding his crutches behind his back and no doubt very happy under his mask. Congrats, coach. My poor mother.
Quick story: Earlier this fall, my father @Finman1017 (actual Coach Finley) while out mountain biking in the middle of the woods very intentionally aimed for and subsequently crashed off an elevated dirt bike jump, something he and his friends did frequently in their mid-60s...
But through it all, he fought to communicate and coach his high school team and this week his men’s team won their first district meet by one point. One point is one place, one lean or a fraction of a second in cross country.
Team work has extended beyond teams recently. Amazing efforts by all last Friday; from our @BKLYNTrackClub community mile time trials in the morning to the evening sub-elite races at Icahn Stadium, everyone rallied to help push each other to the limit.

Continuing to work on running strategically - being patient, relaxing my shoulders 😬 and kicking hard.
