Thought for today.... The knowledge and thinking that made you successful for the last 15 years is not the same knowledge that will make you successful for the next 15.
Most C-suite leaders I meet know this, and yet if they're honest with themselves, they aren't doing enough to change it. It's been drilled into them (and into most large organisations) that the most senior person in the room is supposed to hold the answers, admitting otherwise feels like admitting weakness.
It isn't. It's the opposite.
The leaders I watch grow the most are the ones who go from needing to be the expert in the room to being excited to be in conversations where they are the least expert person in it. That change from "know-it-all" to "learn-it-all" is uncomfortable. But it's the only real path to the next stage of leadership.
What got you here won't get you there. The sooner you make peace with that, the sooner you start moving forward again.
Its time to be curious...
If Key had any sense, he'd be on the plane to South Africa with a central contract, chequebook and some placards to apologise to Liam Dawson like Andrew Lincoln in Love Actually
