The images from Ratko Mladić’s funeral yesterday in Belgrade were shocking.
Ratko Mladić was a convicted war criminal. He was responsible for genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity. He died while serving a life sentence for the Srebrenica genocide and other crimes.
The elements of official support and the presence of some senior Serbian officials at the funeral are deeply regrettable. They demonstrate a failure to confront a dark chapter in Europe’s recent history and contradict the values underpinning Serbia’s path towards the European Union.
Our thoughts are with all the victims of the crimes committed in the countries of former Yugoslavia.
The public glorification of Ratko Mladić, a convicted war criminal responsible for the Srebrenica genocide and crimes against humanity, is unlawful under national and international law. All authorities must uphold accountability, protect victims’ rights, and defend justice.

Scotland attracting more foreign investment in energy than anywhere else in Europe except Germany and France. Yes there are challenges but what a vote of confidence in the sector overall - https://t.co/CrWL3caoZA
On behalf of the people of Scotland, I would like to convey my deepest solidarity with people in Nepal and China following the devastating flooding.
My thoughts are with all those who have lost loved ones, suffered injuries or have been otherwise impacted.
Iceland is a member of the Single Market (and Schengen), I thought that meant you couldn’t be independent?
Try telling 🇮🇪🇪🇪🇵🇹🇸🇮🇲🇹🇫🇷🇵🇱🇳🇱🇩🇰🇬🇷🇨🇿🇫🇮 that they are somehow not Independent.
Also Iceland gets to decide whether it is in the EU or not unlike 🏴
Deeply unserious.
Evidence of democracy. However, the only one of all these referendums to lead to complete disaffiliation from the EU was the UK’s- EEA membership would have prevented 75% of the economic damage reported (again) today
Incredible @edbookfest event with the great Philippe Sands in conversation with @StephenGethins, ten years on from his landmark, @BaillieGifford Prize-winning family memoir uncovering the origin of the concept of genocide.

My thoughts are with the people of Norway following the death of King Harald V.
On behalf of the people of Scotland, my condolences to Queen Sonja, Crown Prince Haakon and the Royal Family at this sad time.
The Muppets have released a statement on the tragic passing of Tim Curry.
“Few humans have earned the title of honorary Muppet more than the legendary Tim Curry. As a performer, he was unparalleled – witty, charming, unnerving, and deeply funny.
We will always consider it one of our greatest treasures to have been part of Long John Silver’s crew. Thank you for everything, Tim.”
Proud that Dundee hosts an Imagination library and prouder still of my colleague (and Dolly super fan) Cllr Lee Mills who did so much to bring that library to the City. He recently did the kilt walk for the library. Here’s the link - https://t.co/BJCtClT6Uy
Labour promised to lower your energy bills, but it was just confirmed they are rising again - for the seventh time under this UK Labour government.
Enough is enough. It’s Scotland’s energy, and it’s time to put it into Scotland’s hands.

What a life of positivity and impact. Love the music, yes, but to found a library so kids have the opportunity to read means a legacy for decades. And there is a great link to Dundee …
Our team, our local program partners, and every operational partner who helps make this program possible each month are heartbroken at the loss of our founder, Dolly Parton. (cont.)
A Scottish Government minister has paid tribute to the 'extraordinary courage, determination and resilience' of the people of Ukraine, ahead of the country’s independence day on Monday https://t.co/Xv9vIOG4GW
Despite being one of the most energy-rich countries in the world, we pay some of the highest energy bills in Europe.
The energy price cap is set to rise again on Wednesday.
This must be a wake up call for the Prime Minister. We need urgent action to lower people’s bills.
Important point from the FM on Ukraine’s Independence Day is that they are fighting for us all and our common values of democracy, human rights and dignity #SlavaUkraïni
Happy Independence Day, Ukraine.
You are fighting not only for your freedom, but for the democratic values we all hold dear.
People in Scotland stand proudly in solidarity with the people of Ukraine. 🏴🇺🇦
With the sad passing of Siim Kallas wormers reflecting on the role he played in taking his country to the heart of the EU as an independent state with the associated benefits for Estonians and the rest of Europe. What a journey! 🇪🇺🇪🇪
