The economic, social human cost of inaction is egregious.
GP additional funding 2025/6
England £969m
Scotland £290m
Wales £52m
NI £1m
All have the same pressures, same plans and same priorities.
Never ever be shocked or surprised that you can’t access simple, basic health care in NI or why our NHS is collapsing

I support more funding to primary care especially if tied to long term conditions (LTCs) targets. This has worked brilliantly via QOF. I said this to Minister @mikenesbittni when he visited our transplant unit in Sept 24. I made the point that investing more in primary care alongside specialist networks was needed to impact chronic diseases earlier (GP) & more consistently, equitably & with evidence (networks) to reduce poor outcomes with admissions, disability and premature death. LTCs-obesity-diabetes, ⬆️ blood pressure, ⬆️cholesterol; addictions, arthritis, chest disease etc drive a lot of acute unscheduled work too. Coupled with cancer screening and a leaner HSC management system is where there’s more effective, cheaper clinical treatment. Upstream is where to invest more. Alas elective waiting lists/WLI & locum spending is blinding a secondary care DoH/SPPG/Trust obsessed system.
#PennyWisePoundFoolish with ~100% ⬆️ overall funding in just over a decade across the board for the worst outcomes on these islands. @AlanStout19@OHaganFrances
Please, please can someone listen to the workforce and solve some of the internal, basic problems that have been there for some time.
Simply offloading to the private sector will be another disaster and will create no sustainable future.
Had a little day off today. Sort of. Went for a walk, played tennis, had lunch, had a nap, darned one of my favourite jumpers, boxed on my VR, had a sauna. Off to Dublin tomorrow. #Mortality

Delighted my party leader, Doug Beattie took the opportunity during his meeting with the PM to highlight the subject of GP indemnity insurance. To ensure the sustainability of NI GB Practices access must be granted to the state scheme in England and Wales. @BMANI_GP@uuponline

It is rarely surprising why a service fails.
Significant cuts at a time of high inflation and spiralling costs will never work.
And no sort of uplift in sight
@UKLabour Seriously? Wise up. Wes Streeting cant even commit to supporting the nurses for a fair wage. How they plan to recruit and retain enough GPs to work in this fantasy service without a commitment to pay health care professionals appropriately?
1/ Thank you once again to @wesstreeting today in the House of Commons
"It's also absurd .. we still have doctors retiring early for no other reason than the pension rules create an active financial disincentive for them to work"
