⚠️ Ugh… I have a story that will ABSOLUTELY make anyone think twice about buying a @Tesla or, at minimum, ever trusting its self-driving technology.

The scene: a two-lane mountain road, with one lane in each direction separated by a yellow line. Tesla Full Self-Driving was engaged.

The driver of a Suburban decided to make a TERRIBLE decision to pass a slow-moving big rig despite having no visibility whatsoever of potential oncoming traffic. Then the car directly in front of me pulled out to follow the Suburban around the truck.

As I am thinking "what are these morons doing!?" then, without any command from me, my Tesla suddenly mimicked that car, whipping across the double yellow line and directly into the path of oncoming traffic.

By then, simply braking would have left me trapped alongside the big rig with nowhere to get back over. I had to take control, complete the maneuver and force my way safely back into my lane.

Just moments later, another car came around the bend heading directly toward us. Had I reacted a few seconds later, this could have been a catastrophic head-on collision.

I moved to Los Angeles 14 years ago and absolutely love it. I have also traveled around the country and attended more sporting events than I could possibly count. LA is not a sports town in any sense of the word. It is an entertainment town. A high proportion of residents grew up elsewhere rooting for other teams. If a team is competing for championships and playing a big game the people will turn lot. If it’s not they won’t. In many places the fans are true for hards. There is fluctuation but they pretty much show up regardless. Very few people in LA die hard for their teams. They just find something else to do. Pretty simple.
