Yvette Cooper calls Nigel Farage’s Clacton resignation a “political stunt” to dodge financial scrutiny and rules. Fine. But if he’s that dangerous, that rule-breaking, that much of a threat… why the hell aren’t you standing against him?

Instead of sending candidates to make the case to voters, Labour, Conservatives, Lib Dems, and the Greens have all bottled it and ruled themselves out. Giving Farage a near-free run at re-election.

BBC reporter rightly points out Clacton residents might want a proper choice. Cooper just repeats the scripted line: “There shouldn’t be a by-election, he’s disrespecting the people.”

Whether there should or shouldn’t be is irrelevant now, because a by-election is taking place. So why are you all refusing to fight it?

They’re all reading from the exact same playbook. Same lines, same outrage, same refusal to actually compete. It doesn’t look like principled democracy. It looks like one big protected club that would rather hand Farage a walkover than risk losing to him.

If you’re so sure he’s beatable, get in the ring. Otherwise stop the performative whining.
