@Mahler18601911 “Frankly worse than most” as some LPO players dubbed him. I did see him live with that orchestra and wasn’t much impressed, but he did make at least 2 great discs with EMI: Korngold’s Symphony, & Schmidt’s Book of 7 Seals. I must have a listen to his Cleveland box.

[Stephen Thomas @StephenTho9498]

@ChrisGartner2 It always was average Chris. This is no worse than most years. It’s a midweek card upgraded to provide a season opener, with a bit of fanfare. Hard to believe that Cheltenham used to race in September back in the day.

[Stephen Thomas @StephenTho9498]

@UncleErniesTips Nor can I. The best ones have buggered off elsewhere: Luck (largely) to NBC, Bell & Persad to ITV & Neesom to the great point-to-point in the sky. Even Hislop does very few winter shifts these days, preferring to focus on her Roadies. Their Irish team are a cut above though.

@nialltierney25 County Hurdle prospect at best

[Stephen Thomas @StephenTho9498]

@racingblogger It’s a long season. Wouldn’t condemn on him on the basis of that. Almost certainly needs a trip & the yard aren’t firing in winners yet.

[Stephen Thomas @StephenTho9498]

@racingoncourse Need it

[Stephen Thomas @StephenTho9498]

@joshtoole91 They could have a month’s rain in 24 hours & it will still be firm at Exeter and Wincanton ….apparently!

[Stephen Thomas @StephenTho9498]

@MikeParcej @itvracing @DoncasterRaces I never realised “Futurity Friday” was a thing. Heavy ground flat racing doesn’t do it for me.

[Stephen Thomas @StephenTho9498]

@DarranPearce Christ, I’d stick to Hunter Chases if I were you🤣

[Stephen Thomas @StephenTho9498]

@racingoncourse Well if you will drive from Newton Abbot to Perth…

[Stephen Thomas @StephenTho9498]

@the_book_land And you haven’t mentioned Aaron Copland, America’s finest classical composer. Fukuyama’s statement is truly absurd.

[Stephen Thomas @StephenTho9498]

@ceritheviking I picked my wife up from the Civic Centre at 4pm today. It then took me 25 mins to drive 100 yards up King Edward VII avenue. Total madness!

[Stephen Thomas @StephenTho9498]

@AaronBastani Lots of Magic Moments from Como tonight

[Stephen Thomas @StephenTho9498]

@unsungcomposers @musicandroots Violin for me too. One beautiful melodic idea after another. Can’t say the same for the Cello Concerto.

[Stephen Thomas @StephenTho9498]

@racingblogger @FfosLasRC Heavy rain till 3am then dry in the morning and through racing.

[Stephen Thomas @StephenTho9498]

@quevega @MikeParcej @SkySportsRacing I’m sure Sille-me-Guillaume is beautiful & the locals will miss it, but it hosts ONE race day a year. Let’s have some perspective; Maisons-Laffitte it is not.

[Stephen Thomas @StephenTho9498]

@RCFarquhar @TheRacingJosh @nickluck @HexhamRaces No serious jumps fan “has never been to Hexham”. Disgraceful from the great man!
