Wanted to explain why I gave Nick Sirianni an “A-” for the Eagles win over the Jaguars
1) They won the game. An important detail.
2) This game was viewed as a trap game the team might not be up for with a big win last week v Cincy and playing Dallas next week. The Eagles came out, scored in the 1st quarter and dominated the game for 2.5 quarters. If Nick is going to be ripped for the team no-showing vs. TB, then he gets credit for them showing up in a spot some thought they wouldn’t.
3) The game was close because of a bad call by the refs. It wasn’t like a holding call or a bad PI call. They gave the Jaguars a TD. That has to be considered when talking about the margin of victory
4) I thought the situational calls were the correct calls. He should always go for it when they have a 2pt conversion on the 1 yard line. Always. Every fan would have bet they were going to convert those. Nick made the smart bet. It just didn’t pay off.
5) The other situational calls — I want a head coach that bets on the talent on the team. If he does that over a full season they will win way more than they lose. (40-19 as HC)
Me, an absolute moron, and complete brainless idiot, an intelligence slightly above pond scum: “When adjusting for the refs, it was basically a 30-15 win, and Smith and Barkley are freak athletes. I’m happy.”
