@JACK969calgary Thanks for playing @QUIETRIOT's "Come feel the noise" this a.m. He's been reminiscing about his summer of '86, 10-yrs-old, riding in a 1970 Chevelle 442 with his sister's friends cuz she abandoned her babysitting services. #summer86#feelingfree#newstory
@jkenney is certainly not making the jobs of #Alberta healthcare workers any easier during this pandemic. Words matter and our leadership, if you can call it that, is not concerned about how damaging they can be.
As a mother of a young child who is not eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine, I will continue to wear a mask in public spaces and practice safety measures. #COVIDAB
Good morning #YYC! In this week's newsletter we share information about how Alberta and the Government of Canada have signed a childcare agreement, VCC's recommendations for Calgary City Council & more. https://t.co/6b8URa5dZD #enoughforall#enoughforallYYC#Calgary#PovertyYYC
It’s a full (digital) house. Elder Clement Leather begins with a blessing. Next comes board leaders @CGhitter and @awlegge, who start us off with a message about the importance of lived experiences in advocacy, Reconciliation, childcare and what work still needs to happen.
@nenshi the book that @TracyBrower108 mentioned is "A paradise Built in Hell" by Rebecca Solnit. Thanks for mentioning Dr. Ron Glasberg from @UCalgary and his teaching "When in times of tragedy, there is time to get to a new place of transcendence." https://t.co/HfRSTSG48k
The @UnitedWayCgy kickoff is underway, and we couldn’t be more excited! #EnoughForAll would not be possible without their support and dedication to making poverty history in #yyc. #BeUnited
Wow, love that @nenshi mentioned Dr. Ron Glasberg from @UCalgary during the @UnitedWayCgy#BeUnited campaign kickoff sharing Dr. Glasberg's teachings when at times of tragedy, there is time to get to a new place of transcendence.
Agreed. Having public access to our Provincial Parks is what many had envisioned when they were established as parks. We should honour that legacy. Imagine if you had to pay to access the ocean.
I want Alberta’s provincial parks to stay public.
I want our Rocky Mountains to be protected from coal mining.
I want families to be able to visit Kananaskis Country free of charge, as they have for 50 years.
Who’s with me? #ableg#yeg
Agreed, why isn't there a year-round Farmers Market in #yyc? I saw a community food and flower stall on Pender Island and you could take or leave items on an honour basis. There was even a can with money left for the farmers.
Agreed, the curriculum students are learning should not be determined by a political party or government official who is not a subject matter expert in education or has the accreditation or support of the community to do so.
Curriculum development (and the ongoing revisions to ensure it continually reflects our learners and the world they live in) should Be the responsibility of an independent collaborative of academics, educators, students, parents, Elders, and experts.
More condemnation of @jkenney 's horrible draft curriculum. Treaty 6 is rejecting. Comes on top of the Metis Nation of Alberta doing the same earlier today.
Clearly, the Premier needs to pump the brakes on this awful work immediately. #ableg#abed
