@Lairdphoenix27 Yes. She was in Essos though. She’s older than Aegons conquest, and was born close to the Doom of Valyria. During the dance she would be around 230. During the events of game of thrones she is over 400.
@paloma_datgirl Dragons only resided on mainland Westeros for like 130ish years. Meanwhile family’s like the Starks, Hightowers, Lannisters, Durrandon (Baratheon) and more can trace their history back 8,000 years
@Daykerpriest The dragons are as intelligent as people, and when a Targaryen tries to claim a dragon the dragon has to chose them too. If Vhagar didn’t like Aemond or Laena then she could have just burned them. And for the dragons they probably don’t care what the other dragons have to say.
@lorxell Oh also most dragons were kept in the Dragonpit for some portion of their lives. And dragons grow a lot smaller and not as quick in captivity. Evident by Dreamfyre being older then Vermithor, despite Vermithor being younger than Dreamfyre
@lorxell There’s two answers for this. One all of the dragons died before they could reach Balerion’s age Vhagar the second oldest dragon died at 181. Most dragons died in the dance. Second, many fans of the books believe that there was a conspiracy to kill the dragons, by the Maesters
@lorxell And the Faith of the Seven. For the Maesters they hate anything magical and dragons are magical creatures so they wished them dead, and likely infiltrated the dragon keepers so they could poison them. The Faith views magic as demonic and once again dragons are magical creatures.
@lorxell The Valyrian’s built it as a trading outpost with Westeros. And considering it is made of fused black stone they had to have brought dragons over. Probably why The Cannibal exists. The Targaryens took ownership of it when they left Valyria.
