Xbox CEO Asha Sharma told staff that the old Game Pass strategy sent Xbox into “freefall.”
The idea was simple: get as many people as possible onto Game Pass. But the service didn’t grow as quickly as Microsoft expected, while putting big games on the subscription came with a huge cost.
Adding Call of Duty day one may have made things worse. As Sharma explained, Xbox’s business was struggling, with margins “3-10x lower than comparable platform and publishing businesses.”
She now says Xbox has started to bounce back after hitting an “all time low.”
“We're making the right decisions to reinvest in the business,” Sharma reportedly told staff, adding that Xbox has “started to return to growth.”

The Ottawa proposal is about expanding access to eligible Nigerians abroad, not establishing another permanent JAMB office or spending public funds on a new facility. It is also part of a wider effort to strengthen the connection between Nigerians in the diaspora and Nigerian tertiary education.
