A4- flexibility - I often envision lessons going a certain way but I need to remind myself it's okay to change plans, accept help, and give myself grace when needed. #NPSDCHAT
This right here #NPSDCHAT is so important for us to remember for ourselves, our students, our families, and each other. The role of teachers matters more than ever right now as @katiemartinedu writes in her recent article.
A3- establishing relationships with students, small group meetings/lessons, student choice, and student to student collaboration will be key for authentic and active learning to take place. #npsdchat
Q3. Digitizing curriculum and monitoring completion of assignments is not engagement. What are some ways teachers can maximize more learning for students and less assigning? #NPSDCHAT
A1- we need to allow students to have a choice and voice within the virtual classroom. we need to allow time for students to have collaborative projects as well as time to reflect on the feedback given on projects and tasks.#npsdchat
Teaching in the fall brings with it a lot of newness and uncertainty. Intentional design to empower learners is key. Looking forward to hearing from you #NPSDCHAT with Q2.
A1- intentionally design feedback maybe a challenging shift to ensure it is purposeful and allows the student to use the feed forward to help them grow. I need to ensure I give authentic feedback in the best way possible.
Q1: Based on Katie Martin’s “Key Shifts and Considerations for Distance Learning” graphic, which shifts do you think will be the most difficult to make?
#NPSDCHAT
We are excited to kick off this #NPSDCHAT with @RMartielloNPSD @megsmithNPSD and @mikebotti. Please join us as we share @katiemartinedu work and reflect on making positive shifts during distance learning.
A4- give myself grace and be flexible. Listen and be understanding of colleagues, share ideas, and be open to improvement. I want to be the best version of myself and taking feed-forward along the way is important to my development. #npsdchat
A3- I like the idea of "plussing"- addressing the issue, explaining why it could be a problem, and then discussing alternatives together to fixing the problem. It allows people to see the situation in a different or more positive light. #npsdchat
A2- Improves S learning because it focuses on a few skills happening at the moment instead of waiting until the end when the S can no longer go back and improve on the piece. Ff allows the teacher to coach and use an interactive process which helps to empower the S #npsdchat
A1- feedforward allows Ss to develop and improve with concepts and skills. It is given in the moment while working which allows Ss to grow and put a positive connotation on improvement. It focuses on one particular skill rather than numerous ones. #npsdchat
A4- personalized learning will be important to meet student needs. Mini conferences will help to individualize student needs and build relationships. #npsdchat
Wow! We have reached our last question. Q4 is extremely relevant and important, especially at the start of the year knowing students will be at various levels impacted by remote learning and other social/emoitonal factors. #NPSDCHAT
A3- I plan to use both formal and informal assessment measures. I also want to allow students to have real conversations with me about how they feel about their learning and encourage honest self-assessment and goal creation #NPSDCHAT
A2- students need to feel comfortable and safe in there learning environment. They also need to know the teacher supports them, believes in them, and gets to know them personally just not academically,#NPSDCHAT
A1- Authentic learning to me means that students are actively engaged in the activity and that each student is able to relate to the content. When students are engaged, real learning can take place. #NPSDCHAT
Q1: Last week we talked about creating authentic and relevant learning experiences for students. What is your definition of an authentic learning experience?
#NPSDCHAT
A4- student choice will be essential and helping students become independent and responsible learners. Continuing to incorporate more technology will help provide Ss choice and keep them interested.
Q4: Students were asked to be the navigators of their own learning during the pandemic. How can you continue to foster independent and relevant learning opportunities for students from a distance or face to face? #NPSDCHAT
