Hungary's recently elected government has published draft legislation for a wealth tax of between 1 and 1.5 per cent.
It would apply to high-net-worth individuals, family-owned businesses and cross-border asset structures worth HUF1 billion (EUR2.7 million) or above. Should the legislation pass, the tax would be expected to come into effect by the end of 2026, accompanied by detailed anti-avoidance rules.

New guidance from HMRC states that neither individual nor corporate trustees are required to register as tax advisors if their actions consist solely of meeting their tax responsibilities as a trustee, nor are they required to register if they are not providing a separate tax advisory service to a client.
There has been uncertainty about trustees' position ever since HMRC introduced its Modernising and Mandating Tax Adviser Registration system earlier this year.

Charitable legacies and Inheritance Tax: are your clients’ wills still fit for purpose?
STEP and the Chartered Institute of Taxation have raised concerns with HMRC about changes to the inheritance tax charitable exemption introduced by the Finance Act 2026.
The changes have created significant uncertainty for practitioners advising clients who wish to leave their estates to charity. In particular, the amendments raise important questions about the treatment of gifts made by will to trustees holding funds on trust for charitable purposes.
In this blog, Emily Deane TEP, Technical Counsel at STEP, discusses what has changed, the registration dilemma and what practitioners should do.

On September 30 2026, General Resolution 5903/26 was published in Argentina's Official Gazette, introducing new transfer pricing rules. It repeals General Resolution 4717/2020 and General Resolution 5010/2021 by consolidating the matters governed by both into a single text.
Though the changes may initially appear to comprise a simple corporate tax issue, they will be relevant to high net-worth individuals, private trusts, and family businesses that intersect with international transactions, cross-border structures and corporate holdings.
