Maybe itโs just me, but Olympic speed walking looks like a bunch people frantically running to the bathroom. Seems like I remember a few times I would have placed for gold.
The end of episode 4 of The Rise and Fall of Mars Hill hit me in the feels. Community is really a precious thing that is so difficult to step away from no matter the circumstances.
In the words of John Prine: "The scientific nature of the ordinary man is to go out and do the best you can." @GarrisonDGriff models this as a friend, father, son, husband & churchman. Grateful for the man on this day of celebration. Happy 30th!
โTo be loved but not known is comforting but superficial. To be known and not loved is our greatest fear. But to be fully known and truly loved is, well, a lot like being loved by God.โ - Tim Keller
โDo all the good you can,
by all the means you can,
in all the ways you can,
in all the places you can,
at all the times you can,
to all the people you can,
as long as you ever can.โ
@drtonywolfe @_SBTC@sbtcleadership@jeffhlynn This is a great role for you @drtonywolfe. You are going to help bring about a big impact in our church leadership structures.
Why your church matters: "...what binds the local church together as a distinct body of people, distinct from the nations and distinct from Christians united to other churches, is the fact that Jesus Christ's universal lordship gets exercised there - among them. - Leeman
"... we've been socialized to believe that individual fulfillment & personal relationship with God are more important than any connection we might have with our fellow human beings, whether home or church. We've, in a most subtle & insidious way, been conformed to this world."
In "When the Church Was a Family" Joseph Hellerman helps prune the American church of its individualism, while promoting a more community focused spiritual formation.
