Absolutely. I own and run 2 x companies and I pay all my staff very well. My staff have been with me long term. I ought to employ a few more, due to demand, but, employing more people to enable that growth is too risky. As a team we will manage. To employ newcomers would be manageable now, but I can’t trust that we won’t be hit with another ridiculous employment associated cost or scheme. I DONT TRUST this government. They don’t want us to grow. It’s sinister.
Another point is that I used to make a very good income too (and I worked hard for it). I would spend some of it, boosting the economy…..holidays, days out, weekends away, theatre, home renovations etc. But, over the last few years, the tax I am paying (and increased household costs, mortgage, cars, VAT on school fees etc) means I stopped spending. I spend only on necessities. I spend practically nothing locally.
They have retarded growth, trust, ambition, enthusiasm, consumerism and hope!
