BYU football should rebuild LaVell Edwards Stadium to 80-90k seats. More capacity meets rising demand, lowers ticket prices for families, and boosts BYU’s Big 12 brand. Affordable seats preserve the family-friendly vibe while adding luxury options.
Florida is moving forward with a renovation of the Swamp. Targeted for completion ahead of the 2030 football season with a price tag of approximately $1.45 billion (!!).

What makes this conversation so difficult for me is that I can't stop thinking about where this kind of reasoning leads.
When people start talking about whether a life is worth living based on intelligence, physical ability, independence, medical complications, or the burden placed on others, it makes me uncomfortable. Not because those challenges aren't real, but because history is full of examples of people using similar arguments to decide which lives had value and which didn't.
One of the reasons the Nazi era is still studied so heavily is that it wasn't built overnight. It started with ideas about genetics, desirability, quality of life, and the belief that society could be improved by reducing the number of people with certain traits. The justification was often presented as rational, scientific, compassionate, or beneficial for families and society.
To be clear, I'm not saying individual parents making private medical decisions are Nazis. I am saying that the underlying questions about human value deserve serious thought. If we judge whether a life is worth living based on health, intelligence, independence, or future hardships, where do we draw the line? And who gets to draw it?
This is also deeply personal for me because I have a sister with Down syndrome. I am incredibly grateful that she is here, and her life has immense value no matter what physical challenges she faces. She brings love, joy, and meaning to the lives of the people around her, and knowing her has reinforced my belief that a person's worth cannot be measured by their abilities, limitations, or medical diagnoses.
For me, that's why these conversations matter. Every human life has value, and I think we should be very careful whenever we start discussing some lives primarily in terms of limitations, costs, or burdens.
