Announcing some great news for our local hospitals today!
Brockville General Hospital will receive $3,436,500 - a 3.2% increase, while Kemptville District Hospital is receiving $934,500 - an increase of 4%.
I’m a proud advocate for our local hospitals and I welcome this continued investment by our government in services for patients and our incredible frontline healthcare workers.
This funding is part of a $1.1 billion investment into Ontario's hospital sector in Budget 2026, A Plan to Protect Ontario, which represents an overall 4% increase in annual support for the fourth year in a row.

In the Village of Merrickville-Wolford yesterday with Mayor Michael Cameron to celebrate the completion of renovations to the Merrickville Community Centre. The project was made possible thanks to a $197,900 investment through the Ontario Trillium Foundation Capital Grant program.
For 125 years, the Community Centre has brought people of all ages and from all walks of life together for the annual Fair, special events, fundraisers, and celebrations. So pleased these beautiful renovations will ensure it will continue to be an important gathering place for area residents for generations to come.
Kudos to all the volunteers and contractors who made it happen!

Thanks to Executive Director Cynthia Sparring and Business Operations Manager Dave Smith for hosting MP Michael Barrett and I for a tour at Career Services of Brockville today.
As a past board member, I know how this organization does incredible work to remove barriers for people to enter the workforce. As they mark their 50th anniversary in 2026, I appreciated the update on how they’re continuing to adapt in the face of an ever-changing economy to meet the needs of employers and their clients.
Congratulations on 50 remarkable years!
At the Sherwood Park Manor AGM last week, Ken Durand's term as Board of Directors chair came to an end. I want to thank Ken for his leadership, which included his invaluable efforts guiding Sherwood Park Manor through the new build project, and celebrating its 50th anniversary last year. Thank you, Ken, and congratulations to incoming board chair, Ray Marshall.
Continuing to celebrate Seniors Month today with an announcement that four Seniors Active Living Centres (SALCs) in Leeds & Grenville are receiving a total of $212,040 in annual funding from our government this year!
For 60 years Seniors Active Living Centres in Ontario have provided programs and activities that improve the quality of life for seniors by keeping them healthy, social, and connected to their community. I’m a tremendous supporter of the program because I’ve seen firsthand the difference they are making in the lives of seniors.
Locally, the funding will support the following SALCs:
✅Brockville Senior Citizens Inc. – $57,640
✅Walker House Adult Recreation Centre (Prescott) – $57,640
✅Seniors' Community Services (North Grenville) – $55,000
✅Golden Years Program (Rideau Lakes Township) – $41,760
Big thanks to Ontario's Minister for Seniors and Accessibility Raymond Cho for his ongoing support of our local SALCs.

At the Upper Canada District School Board this morning on behalf of Education Minister Paul Calandra to announce that our government is investing $28.1 million to build a new school in Augusta Township!
Pleased to advocate for this project after it was brought forward as a community priority by councils in Augusta and Prescott. The school will bring together Maynard Public School and Wellington Elementary School, creating modern classrooms for 435 students while also providing 127 licensed childcare spaces for local families.
Thanks to Mayor Jeff Shaver and Gauri Shankar Mayor of Prescott for their advocacy, and to the UCDSB for submitting a strong proposal to the Ministry of Education.
Also great to have Shannon Brown, Manager of United Counties of Leeds and Grenville Children's Services on hand this morning to highlight the importance of licensed childcare spaces in the community.

A wonderful celebration of appreciation in Seeley’s Bay this afternoon for Dr. Debbie Briggs, who is retiring after 28 years of providing compassionate, quality care to her patients. Dr. Briggs’ dedication has truly made a difference - and the full house was a testament to how much her patients and the community cares for her.
She also ensured a continuity of care for her patients by helping recruit her successor, Dr. Tauqeer Tariq, who was welcomed to the community today.
So pleased that Ontario’s Rural Economic Development through Immigration pilot program that was led locally by the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville Economic Development Office helped get Dr. Tariq from the United Kingdom and smoothed his licensing process.
An example of how a retiring doctor, municipal medical recruitment initiatives, and a provincial program can work together to bring medical professionals to our communities.
Kudos to all who organized today’s special event. Thank you, Dr. Briggs, and welcome, Dr. Tariq!

Happy Seniors Month!
@SteveClarkPC and I were proud to host our first annual Seniors Expo in Brockville with Senior Support Services LLG, where more than 160 seniors joined us to connect with local resources and friends.
Thank you to everyone who helped make it a success, and to the seniors who built our communities and continue to strengthen them every day.
Thanks to Katie Nolan from Community Futures Grenville and Trish McNamara from 1000 Islands CDC for the great discussion today. Pleased to get an update on their operations and the incredible supports their organizations provide, as well as some insight into what they see happening in the local small business sector.
Also appreciated learning more about their Medical Practitioner Recruitment Loan program - another resource to help local communities recruit new primary care providers to Leeds and Grenville.
We're so fortunate to have Katie, Trish, their teams, and their board members working in our region!
Today, our government signed a deal to increase trade and cooperation between Ontario & Pennsylvania.
As we continue to Build Fortress North America, this agreement serves as a critical tool for unlocking new job-creating opportunities and protecting resources on both sides of the border.

Thanks to the big crowd who came out for today’s 2026 Seniors Expo in celebration of Seniors Month. What a fantastic day of learning and connecting, with so many outstanding presentations and exhibitors.
Our hosts at New Hope Church did an absolutely fabulous job with the set-up and delicious food!
It was great to team up with MP Michael Barrett & Senior Support Services-LLG and looking forward to making this an annual event.
Ticket scalpers who rip off Ontario families are on notice.
We capped resale prices, and now we’re raising penalties to $25,000 to crack down on price gouging and make it easier for fans to see their favourite band, artist or sports team live.

As House Leader, I want to thank all Members for their work throughout the spring session.
I look forward to being back in the riding, meeting with constituents across Leeds—Grenville—Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes, and bringing those voices back to Queen’s Park.
What a great way to celebrate Local Food Week!
