Really starting to see hybrid separation on Tar Spot. P13777PCUE showing very good Tar Spot tolerance and staygreen vs 114 day competitor. Field had fungicide applied last week of July.
Will a 2nd fungicide pass pay for Southern Rust? Looks possible. This entire field was treated the first time. A Hagie made 4 passes in the field to see what a second pass would do.
Selecting the right source of sulfur is critical to ensure enough sulfate-sulfur is present in the soil at key uptake periods https://t.co/GweZX5ZXVM “Rapid uptake of sulfur occurs in corn from V5 to early silking when 50 percent of sulfur needed by corn is taken up"
After a chilly night, it’s nice to see 2” soil temps holding strong in the mid to upper 30s.
Tuesday night into Wednesday early morning remains our biggest chance for low 30s soil temps holding strong over night.
Ashley and Jay’s 2024 ‘Top 10 Agronomy Countdown’ continues on Episode #73 of ‘Your Field is Our Office’. If for no other reason you’ll want to catch the ‘Arm Wrestling Challenge’ … AND Jay quoting Shakespeare. YES … all in an Agronomy Podcast!! https://t.co/BIyJsrAYe9
Data pull from NASS of county yields showing how the combination of improved genetics and grower management has not only created increases in the year over year yield gains... but also greatly decreased the yield variability from year to year, especially in the Dakota's..
Very interesting analysis!!
Episode #70 has ‘Dropped’ Ashley and I discuss dry soils and Fall Anhydrous Ammonia applications. PLUS 2024 Tar Spot Observations with Field Agronomist Steve Hubly. Good timely observations and Information! https://t.co/hH53D7myoa
February soybean seed treatment trial was harvested yesterday and to no surprise.. the early planting when it doesn't get frosted off is the highest yielding.
The February plant date out yielded the April plant date by four bushels per acre and came in at 92.7 bu/ac. This plot did have over 4" of rain in August which was a huge benefit and also two passes of fungicide.
It was an impressive showing for the new Z Series soybeans!!
Again, the point of that plant date was to test Pioneer Lumigen seed treatments ability to establish a stand in tough conditions. Mission accomplished. Hopefully this give growers confidence to start planting on the insurance date in April if conditions are fit.
Be safe out there!!
A side-by-side comparison of Aproach Prima on soybeans vs no fungicide. Application was done at R3. As seen in the picture a pass and a half of Aproach Prima was applied in the middle of the field.
Near Laurel, IA.
Aproach Prima: 74.2 bu per acre
Check: 66.7 bu per acre
Tar spot playing a BIG role in pre-mature black layer in this PKP plot. Make sure you know your hybrid tolerance when choosing genetics for the 2025 growing season! #Pioneer
