TV news, in trying to find a reason for the apparently baffling fact that we’ve had so many PMs in such a short time - why, that is, we have only one type of politics now - that of outrage, leading inexorably to endless and repetitive political cancellation - can’t bring itself, I note, to even mention the words: social media.
A real long shot but can people retweet this please.
Yesterday all my items were stolen in Eastbourne including my stats book which has 20 years worth of details in. Laptops, phones, clothes, shavers etc can all be replaced but this can’t and is useless to anyone else. It’s in a plastic folder you can see in the left hand side of this photo. Can anyone in that neck of the woods please keep an eye out. I’m gutted about this.
Football remains the beautiful game but the men who run it are managing to severely damage its reputation and it looks like they will be pressing the accelerator throughout this World Cup. It is incredibly sad.
This isn't true. Ofgem made it clear "This increase is a result of higher wholesale gas prices caused by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East". More drilling in the North Sea would be good for our economy, but it would make little difference to prices... 1/2
Ben isn’t exaggerating about the order of magnitude difference.
In constant $:
🇬🇧 HS2: $626 mn/km
🇫🇷 LGV to Bordeaux: $43 mn/km
🇮🇹 Brescia–Verona: $63 mn/km
🇰🇷 Suseo line: $89 mn/km. Pricey. But that’s because it’s 87% in tunnel.
Rather than replacing the PM I think @10DowningStreet and @UKLabour need to replace their media teams. If you actually look at the legislation passed and metrics like asylum and NHS backlogs they’ve achieved a lot, but it doesn’t seem to cut through with many. They need to shout.
If Starmer is forced out, he’ll be the fifth PM in a row to last less than a full term. There are some structural issues making the job near impossible. Changing the name above the door won’t fix it.
The media is in full blood lust and may
soon be feeding off a 7th PM in 10 years. Our politics looks increasingly unserious. Although Labour MPs have lots of justifiable concerns, a little pause for thought might yet be good for both them and the country.
Whatever complaints MPs have about Keir Starmer, they are now descending into the kind of headless chickenry that - whatever and whoever the outcome - will make the situation even worse for Labour. If there is a grand plan starring Catherine West and a few PPSs, then it doesn’t feel terribly thought through. A period of calm would do none of them any harm. The general election is a fair way off. The next legislative programme is about to be unveiled. There are better ways to reach such an important decision and better times too. You are MPs not commentators who exist to feed a frenzy.
Hi all. I’ve made AQA & Edexcel Paper 1s to sit with the Aiming for X papers, in case they’re useful for anyone.
All the papers are here: https://t.co/w29SEvfqRJ
Videos will be going up over the next few days on https://t.co/Bo9BEvQm2e
Reposts welcome. Have a great bank holiday!
We shouldn't allow politicians who cheerled for this war to cry crocodile tears about the economic consequences for working people. If you backed Trump, you own the consequences
@MathsWebb@ShakinthatChalk My colleague showed me how to change the settings in Excel (options > advanced) so that the cell moves right instead of down when you press enter. It's a game-changer for entering QLA data as you can turn the pages with your left hand and enter the data with your right.
