Not only have I updated my CHL arena rankings to add Penticton after my recent trip but some rinks got moved up and down the list after another read through and hindsight added.
Here is my updated 1-61 ranking of all the buildings across @CHLHockey

What a month June 2026 was for the Guelph Storm. A month ago many were already writing them off saying 0-3 etc. To be fair the roster was no where near ready. Now 30 days later they look scary good. Still some things to do but the moves made so far have surpassed my expectations.

Love that the WHL is bringing in the "no return" OT rule. Once you enter the offensive zone, you can't exit outside the offensive zone on purpose. Essentially no more circling back. LOVE IT. LOVE IT.
NHL should take note.
As a fan I'm trying not to be over confident and tell myself there will be bumps in the road, there will be challenges and perhaps not everyone will gel together.
But you can't say management hasn't done everything they can to put a competitive team on the ice.
On paper, to start the season, this might be a better team (again, to start the season) than the 2013/14 team, which was the best Guelph Storm team ever.
NEWS: The Giants will relocate to City Centre Arena – a new sports & entertainment venue that will be completed in 2030 – in Surrey, B.C., beginning at the start of the 2030-31 WHL season.

Some big news out of the WHL
Round 1 of the playoffs is now just a best of 5. Gotta wonder if the OHL & QMJHL will consider following suit.
Also regular season air travel for the inter conference games.
But keep following Jon's thread for a new pilot project regarding 3 on 3 OT.
The WHL announcing changes for the 2026-27 season:
- No more tiebreakers, and a best-of-five 1st round
- Air travel to begin for certrain inter-conference trips. One out-of-conference trip per season.

As stated earlier, felt like Guelph pick at #4 Timothy Kazda was one of the top players for this Import Draft. Was outstanding at the U18's and in the second half of the USHL season. Kazda is a power winger who could be a high NHL selection. Perfect winger for Czata/Griffin.
My money is on @WHLGiants as the anchor tenant. They've been linked to moving to Surrey in the past. Moving to a bigger arena would give them the opportunity to bid on world juniors and Memorial Cups as well, and owner Ron Toigo has been someone to chase those in past.
One thing to note, the CB Eagles will be the class of the East in the Q for sure, but if Halifax gets who is rumoured in the Euro draft tomorrow and convinces some of those American players to report, their roster is contender worthy.
CHL Import Draft (tmrw) is an interesting one. In a lot of ways the agencies control it. Teams have to play the game.
