@KeeThomasMDT Mac Allister left Alvarez in the central zone to jump onto A.Baena, probably expecting Szoboszlai to pick him up. But A.Baena found the unmarked Alvarez before Mac could recover, leading to the first goal.
Apart from that, I thought Mac had a good game.
@ZaanTalksFooty Bro, We all know his ability. He’s only 18 and playing on loan in La Liga. Not getting minutes in the first three games isn’t a big deal at all.
I’d only worry if he gets to 8–10 games without even getting off the bench. For now, I think we just need to be patient.
@LFC He’s at an acceptable level, but not a level you can fully trust yet. Still, doing this at 18 against an experienced side like Atlético Madrid deserves credit.
@CounterPressers Except the “control tempo” and duel-winning part. He’s looked much better in the pivot lately. Like it or not, he’s still our best option for the pivot. Put someone like Wharton next to him and he’d be a completely different player. Otherwise, there will still be too many gaps.
@LFC Wirtz thrives when he has players around him who understand the game like Ekitiké, Isak and Barcola. People expect him to do everything like Messi, but forget that the players around him matter too. His game comes alive when the IQ around him is high.
Wirtz was at his best last season when he had Ekitiké, and now we’re seeing it again with players like Isak, Barcola who are on the same wavelength. People expect him to do everything like Messi, but barely talk about the quality and football IQ of the players around him.
@LFC This is exactly the mentality I want from our manager. ❤️ No favourites, no charity minutes — you earn your place and you give everything until you have nothing left. Love this mentality.
@LfcNuel Wirtz and Isak were both excellent. No G/A doesn’t mean they did nothing. Watch the game properly — if you put someone else in Wirtz’s position, we probably don’t create half the chances we did.
@FL0C0LA@SamueILFC It’s not about giving up on him or saying we should sell him. If a player isn’t performing well, he has to earn his place back and sit on the bench when necessary. Good or bad, you can’t just keep playing someone every game. This isn’t a charity match.
@KayLFC05_ Don’t disrespect Alberto Moreno. At least he was good going forward and had a decent cross on him. Kerkez doesn’t even seem to use his brain out there.
