@digitalsunshine Absolutely. I'm half Scottish and eligible to play, but the other Steve never called. I think McBurnie would have actually been useful.
@jonsopel ...and the clunking of the process is a big problem for everyone who has tickets and travel plans for the match - like me, and we weren't accused of anything.
@John4bricknell@visitnorthyork@Duffers102 It's the second homes and holiday lets problem. Runswick is similar. I read an article a couple of years ago that said only 14 residents live in the lower village.
@John4bricknell@visitnorthyork@Duffers102 There aren't many residents still there, according to what one of the few remaining resident survivors told me a few years ago.
@StephenFleming We liked Christiansborg Palace & the pre Viking bit of the National Museum. One offspring’s family liked the Church of Our Saviour & another Rosenberg & the park. Nyhavn’s busy but classic. Miss: Mermaid. I liked the coffee & Carlsberg brown ale.
If I’d had a quid for every report I’ve read about how med-tech is going to save the NHS…
... instead of typing on a screen, I'd be watching the bougainvillea drift across an azure pool. Not for a fortnight…but forever. The latest is from The King's Fund

@WallStreetMav@StephenFleming It’s true wages rose as a result of the Black Dearh hit on the labour supply, & serfdom was also finished off in England, but there was some immigration into Scotland, ironically from a part of Europe less affected, i.e. the Flemings, hence my surname.
@colingorrie A few decades ago thou was controversial in some schools because some pupils were saying thou to teachers, which was considered inappropriate and cheeky.
@John4bricknell@angus_young61 Definitely. You have to be out there selling the product, making alliances, influencing etc., to win the money. The separation of economic development functions from the city was bound to be a problem, the new mayor set up is only the latest version.
@StephenFleming The Romans would also take hostages. Full disclosure: my great grandad took part in the war, as a trooper in a Hussar regiment. Apparently, it was an unpleasant and difficult job, which is a reason to add a gold sweetener.
@StephenFleming ...as we Brits did in the 2nd Afghan War (the latest one was our 4th). After the unpleasantness of the 1st war, the strategy changed to go in, smash things up, leave, and promise to do it again if they're naughty again. Plus, give them some money to sweeten the deal. Very Roman.
@TrentTelenko@StephenFleming The US could always use it’s NATO and other allies airlift capacity (*waves at the German Luftwaffe A400 that’s just gone over on its way to North America*), but that may require some better relationships in the alliances.
@RoyLilley The point of all the strategies, frameworks and plans should be to enable the frontline to make patients healthier, happier and cheaper, and to help the staff working with them to be likewise healthier, happier and more productive. It’s all about that point of contact.
@Lockolike@angus_young61 This happened on Barrington Avenue, but the tenfoots weren't the Council's responsibility explicitly. It was the responsibility house owners. The Council would do it if the house owners paid, but they didn't want to (I improved it by proggling the srain with an iron bar).
@wylfcen It is now, but wasn’t before. I think local government reorganisation in the 1880s almost accidentally incorporated Cornwall into England. Previously, laws had been made for England and Cornwall - the Cornish foreigners that lived under the Romans, according to the English.
