It is critical to note that we have worked hard over the past 24 months to achieve macroeconomic stability, characterised by low and stable, now single-digit inflation, currency and exchange rate stability.

Following sustained implementation of prudent fiscal policy, complemented by prudent monetary policy, single-digit inflation was achieved in January this year - a landmark and remarkable achievement, a first in over three decades.

Our macroeconomic and ease-of-doing-business reforms are bearing fruit and laying a solid foundation for sustainable economic growth.

Our external position has remained favourable since 2019, supported by exports as well as diaspora remittances. We are building foreign currency and gold reserves for future generations and to keep our currency stable.

Rising investment, both public and private, in agriculture, manufacturing, mining and infrastructure, signifies renewed hope in the promise of our great country, energising our people, our industry and our Government to expand reforms going forward.

Today I had the greatest honour and privilege to deliver the keynote address on behalf of His Excellency, President Cde Dr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, at the official opening of the 5th Zimbabwe Economic Development Conference (ZEDCON) 2026 in Bulawayo.

Convening in our historic industrial heartland under the theme "Smart Infrastructure for an Upper Middle-Income Society," this year's ZEDCON is a defining moment in our journey to Vision 2030.

It comes at a time when our economy has remained resilient despite global headwinds, anchored by single-digit inflation achieved for the first time in over three decades, currency stability, and rising investment in mining, agriculture, manufacturing and infrastructure.

Under NDS2, we are prioritizing smart, resilient and integrated infrastructure across five pillars - energy, digital connectivity, transport and rail, water and agriculture, and smart cities - to ensure Zimbabwe, land-linked and not landlocked, becomes the logistics hub of SADC and Africa.
