Barefoot and bared soul relationship anarchist. Practicing kindness, intention, & leaving the world better than i found it. Queer. They/them. Still learning.
Anyway, why am I sharing this? I just really needed to get the brainworm out in the open so I can get back to focusing on what I’m supposed to be working on😅
Far from a new thought, I am sure. But I can’t stop thinking about how the implication of “inclusion” is that one party possesses an unquestioned ownership over the space in question.
I started thinking about this in June with a (slightly scattered) blog post that I wrote for @OUTreachSAB:
“In many cases, Pride month 'inclusion' can feel a lot less like a queer welcome, and a lot more like an invitation to be a rainbow straight.”

@kim_siever Maybe the issue is more with us ascribing blame to individuals for a system than it is us not adequately differentiating "moderate" and "extremist" christians - the individual focus allows obfuscation of the system and runs the risk of only serving to assuage Christian guilt.
@kim_siever Is there a "systems" conversation here? I dont have a problem with "all" or "every" christian, but i tend to heavily critique Christianity as a system/structure, same as i would capitalism, etc.
This is not general wear and tear.
This is homophobia. Call it what it is.
Why is the City making excuses for this behaviour instead of condemning it?
The culture of queer hate in Lethbridge is endorsed by this characterization.
@loridennis604 @mormonmombutnot@GlobalLeth@CTVLethbridge Thanks for sharing Lori. We do understand that general wear and tear is part of having this crosswalk installed which is why the paint sourced is made specifically for this type of high-traffic use. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention.
veggietale characters: where are they now
bob the tomato - became a professor at a southern baptist seminary
larry the cucumber - got a neck tattoo and was hired as a “Spiritual Influencer” at bethel
junior asparagus - now an exvangelical, frequently argues with bob on twitter
@YassifyingUni Find what resonates for you, even if its outside your major, and make that your focus. Lean on the resources and communities you have. And you dont have to get it right the first time.
@YassifyingUni My first 2-3 years were beyond hellish. Once i got through the entry level courses and found people who shared my value system things became bearable and even fulfilling.
If you are 2SLGBTQIA+, living in southern Alberta, and feeling like this ⬇️checkout the Linktree in our bio, queer education, resources, community, and more 🥳🏳️🌈
And since my solution to feels is always to think them to death, I've been working on a project rejecting and reframing damage-centered narratives of the trans experience, and you can tune in on the @OUTreachSAB Instagram to follow along if you like!
I have a very tenuous relationship with the word "trans" at this stage of my gender adventure, but since beginning to transition (i guess i use that phrase?) i am always surprised at the impact holidays like TDoV have on me. I'll just be over here having feels for the day 🏳️🌈
The more that I field requests for "de-escalation training," the more that I realize how little the social services sector fundamentally understands about the people with whom they work. /1
I’m searching for a position where I can put my skills and education to work. I have a BA in English and Women and Gender Studies, and a MA in Women and Gender Studies, both from the University of Lethbridge.
