This event, which was the largest environmental terrorist attack ever, not only destroyed a crucial gas pipeline to Europe during an energy crisis but also significantly escalated tensions in a proxy war between nuclear superpowers.

Notably, President Biden had forewarned of the demise of Nord Stream 2 in the event of a Russian invasion, stating just days before the conflict erupted in 2022, "If Russia invades...then there will no longer be a Nord Stream 2. We will bring an end to it."
