C.S. Lewis died #otd in 1963. Lewis was a Fellow and Tutor in English Language and Literature at @magdalenoxford from 1925-1954. He was a teacher, a writer, lecturer, and broadcaster and is best known for his Chronicles of Narnia

Year 5 is reading @whatSFSaid's brilliant Varjak Paw and already our library copies have been taken out because they can't wait for the class to finish! Two have now borrowed the sequel and are immediately engrossed in it. I love seeing children so enthusiastic about books!

@sampopewriter here: I've read a brilliant series of short stories about a character by a y6 girl, which are excellent, as good as much that is currently published. Same style as @Alex_T_Smith Claude. Any ideas who she could approach? . @NosyCrow @PuffinBooks @publishinguclan

It's terrible that so many important book awards for children are disappearing. With the lack of importance being given to literature in universities and schools, it feels that we are gradually eroding literacy and creativity.

@brian_bilston She is! She keeps finding me in the playground and has even challenged me to write a poem in a style she invented - 4 lines: Lines 1 & 4 have 10 syllables and lines 2 & 3 have 5. ABAB rhyme scheme 🤪I have joined her in her poem a day challenge!
