Just received my first placement - district nursing! Does anyone have any advice or tips of what to expect/how to prepare? 3 weeks to go! #weSTNs @StNurseProject @WeStudentNurse@WeDistrictNurse
This month a nurse went directly to my attending without speaking to me and told my attending that I was being unprofessional with a patient and let me tell y’all — that HURT.
A thread 🧵 1/10
I’m sad reading so many tweets from fellow nurses justifying the position for nursing to be given a pay rise, NO JUSTIFICATION is required. Health inequalities exist in such an abundance in the UK because the people we are shouting at don’t give a damn, it’s time for action.
How dare @MattHancock tell a perfectly courteous MP - who also happens to be an A&E doctor - to "watch her tone" in the Commons?
Perhaps he could watch his #everydaysexism?
Not to mention his track record on PPE - the lack of which has endangered countless frontline staff?
This is 21 year old Ellie. She is in her final year of nursing and was out on a run this week when she came across a man who had collapsed in the street. She selflessly did CPR without PPE and saved his life. What a hero!

@FiJohnson89 Thank you Fiona! I don’t suppose you have any particular recommendations for online resources I can access that you found useful? I’m not necessarily heading to critical care on my placement but I want to be clued up! Xx
How to ease your personal anxiety about a global pandemic and knowing nothing about critical care? Try and learn everything about it 🥴🤧 sigh! Ignorance would be bliss right about now...
@elliebullman93 Thanks Ellie. I’ll feel more confident with even a little bit of knowledge behind me - given the rarity of the situation I feel like the more I know the better! Hope everything is alright with you.
New guidance on the use of our NEWS2 in patients with #COVID19 emphasises escalation of patients if there is ANY increase in oxygen requirements.

Here's PHE's new guidance on PPE
It outlines a series of "temporary measures" in England. "Reuse of PPE should be implemented until confirmation of adequate re-supply is in place."
"Compromise is needed to optimise supply in times of extreme shortages"

The fundraising effort by a 99yo is astonishing - but the notion that the NHS has somehow become a charity and that is perfectly ok should make our blood run cold.
Okay so this is a bit scary but... I’m officially opted in! Couldn’t have gone any other way. Thanks @NursingUoW for all your support as always 💙 let’s do this!
81-year-old David Ray spent 22 days at Worcestershire Royal Hospital battling Coronavirus.
He feared he'd never get to see his family again, but after an emotional goodbye, he’s now back home with his wife Anne.
Congratulations David and all the staff on Medial Short Stay!
