@BishopBlougram@DariBigMo@jagunanthi@sm_osment You can make these theoretical arguments about why LLMs cannot be intelligent all you want, but anyone who uses an LLM (most people these days) can instantly see that you're wrong.
@DariBigMo@BishopBlougram@jagunanthi@sm_osment You can't imagine how a computer that's incredibly smart and knowledgeable, which speaks every language, can do math, etc. might be useful?
@DariBigMo@BishopBlougram@jagunanthi@sm_osment Electricity generation is one of the largest sources of pollution on the planet.
You can attack any technology that uses electricity - not just LLMs, but also refrigerators, air conditioning, smartphones and everything else you use in your daily life.
@DariBigMo@BishopBlougram@jagunanthi@sm_osment Electricity generation has devastating impacts on the climate, natural ecosystems, and human health. Ever heard of smog?
LLMs are also incredibly powerful. I think they'll change society as much as (if not more than) electricity.
@BishopBlougram@jagunanthi@sm_osment This is like trying to end electricity with a “no electricity” certification mark.
At best, you'll end up living in a small, closed community that rejects AI, while the rest of the world moves on.
@HunterFor2028 He's right about all of those people, but that doesn't change the fact that his Dad went senile in the White House and backed Israel's genocide in Gaza.
@ShannonBDouglas@valdombre Ah yes, the big bad UN is now running Canada because ... Canadian elected officials decided to follow a nonbinding resolution?
@ShannonBDouglas@valdombre It's a nonbinding resolution. If the elected representatives of the inhabitants of British Columbia want to implement it, that's their right. Do you have a problem with democracy?
@ShannonBDouglas@valdombre "UNDRIP is a legally non-binding United Nations resolution passed by the General Assembly" - Uh oh, the General Assembly is about to invade Canada!
Back in reality, Donald Trump has immense leverage over Canada (economic, military), and has repeatedly said he wants to annex it.
@ShannonBDouglas@valdombre The US president repeatedly said he wanted to annex Canada, and that it was not a joke. People around him said he was serious.
“Surrender our sovereignty to the UN”? Now that really is delusional. The UN is a discussion forum, not a world government.
@ShannonBDouglas@valdombre You're like one of those guys who goes up to strangers in public, punches them in the face, and then yells, "It's just a prank bro!"
@ChesterMorton96@JonahPlatt I personally don't care at all about their religious objections, though they do disprove the modern claim that Zionism is a traditional part of Judaism.
However, they were correct about Zionism being an attempt to fundamentally transform Judaism into a form of nationalism.
@ChesterMorton96@JonahPlatt The largest orthodox religious party in Poland, Agudat Yisrael, had antizionism as a central plank in its platform, for example.
They believed that Zionism was rebellion against God, and an attempt to change Judaism from a religion into an ethnic nationalist movement.
