Trump officials set to approve "forever chemical" as pesticide ingredient. The substance would be sprayed on corn, soybeans and wheat, and marks the 5th Pfas pesticide ingredient Trump's EPA has proposed for approval.

Pfas are a class of about 16,000 compounds most frequently used to make products water-, stain- and grease-resistant. They have been linked to cancer, birth defects, decreased immunity, high cholesterol, kidney disease and a range of other serious health problems. They are dubbed “forever chemicals” because they do not naturally break down in the environment.

During his 2024 campaign, Trump and his ally and now health secretary, Robert F Kennedy Jr, promised to rein in the use of dangerous pesticides, but the EPA has instead loosened oversight.
