Attention blood clot survivors — summer travel season is here. 🧳
Your medical ID bracelet could be the most important thing you pack. If you're on an anticoagulant, first responders need to know — even if you can't tell them.

🪖 Being fit doesn't always mean being safe. A U.S. Army Master Fitness Trainer dismissed calf pain as a muscle sprain. It was a DVT and bilateral PE.
⚠️ Blood clots don't care how strong you are. Or how young. Or how often you work out.

“One of the most common autoimmune diseases we hear about relative to VTE is APS.”
Did you know that antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is an autoimmune disorder that significantly increases the risk of blood clots?
June is APS Awareness Month, and NBCA stands in solidarity with the 1 in 2,000 individuals living with this condition.
APS happens when the immune system mistakenly produces antibodies that attack normal proteins in the blood. This can trigger serious complications like deep vein thrombosis (DVT), stroke, heart attack, and pregnancy loss.

Meet Carson Gunter — a Team Stop the Clot® Runner taking on the 2026 NYC Marathon with serious heart. ❤️🏃 Carson started running in 6th grade, ran his first full marathon his senior year, and never looked back.
Last year he ran the Chicago Marathon in honor of his late Uncle Steve — and this year, he's lacing up again for his Uncle Jimmy, a blood clot survivor who inspires him every single day. 💪
”My Uncle Jimmy has survived a few health issues including a blood clot. He inspires me everyday to keep on pushing and to never give up! I want to run this race for him.”
Carson's goal is to raise $5,000–$10,000 for NBCA. Every dollar helps raise awareness, advance education, and fund life-saving patient programs. Show Carson some love and help him cross that finish line — donate to his NBCA fundraiser today. 🎽🗽

⚠️ When Lindsey Brown finally arrived at urgent care she was in so much pain she could hardly speak. She was diagnosed with a “classic migraine,” though she had no history of migraines. Lindsey told the urgent care team about her traumatic delivery, the 1000ML of blood loss, and emergency C-section. She was sent home without any imaging.
🩸 Days later, Lindsey woke up vomiting with tingling in her left arm. She trusted her gut and drove back to the hospital where her daughter was born. The ER there ordered imaging immediately. The results: complete obstruction of her center sinus — a life-threatening blood clot in her brain (CVST). She was rushed to the Neuro ICU and transported by ambulance to a specialty hospital.
🧠 Doctors found a cluster of clots on the right side of her brain and a DVT in her right jugular. She narrowly avoided brain surgery. A year later new clots formed while on medication — she has been on lifelong warfarin ever since.
Lindsey's story is a reminder that postpartum headaches and neurological symptoms should never be dismissed, and that trusting your instincts can save your life.

June is Men's Health Month — and we're talking about something that doesn't get nearly enough attention: blood clots in men. 🩸
Many people don't realize that men face a higher overall risk of blood clots than women, and after age 50, that risk becomes even greater.
Men are also more likely to experience a recurrent blood clot after a first event.
Yet blood clots in men remain widely under-discussed.
This month, we're shining a light on the fathers, brothers, sons, partners, friends, and survivors whose stories deserve to be heard.
Have you or a man you love been affected by a blood clot?
Share your story this month. Your experience could help raise awareness and save lives. https://t.co/A6fqUAIGLq

The National Blood Clot Alliance is proud to be exhibiting at the 2026 ASCO Annual Meeting — one of the world’s leading gatherings focused on cancer care and research — taking place May 29–June 2 in Chicago.
Cancer patients face a significantly elevated risk of blood clots, making awareness, prevention, and timely recognition a critical part of oncology care. We're honored to represent the patient perspective alongside leading clinicians, researchers, and advocacy organizations working to improve outcomes for patients and families impacted by cancer.

💙 "Like any grieving father, I would do anything to switch places with our MerBear."
Patrick lost his daughter Meredith to a pulmonary embolism caused by estrogen-based oral contraceptives. She was diagnosed after passing out at school — seven days later she was gone.
🩸 In the years that followed, Patrick became an NBCA Thrombassador, dedicating himself to the awareness that he believe could have saved her.
This Women's Health Month, Patrick shares this story because very few women know the blood clot risks of estrogen birth control — and that gap in knowledge is costing lives.

Women’s Health Month may be coming to a close — but these stories stay with us.
The mothers.
The daughters.
The survivors.
The women who were told “it’s probably nothing.”
The families forever changed by a blood clot.
This month, women across the country helped shine a light on a health issue that too often goes unrecognized until it’s too late.
And because of that, more people now know the signs.
More women know the risks.
More families know how to advocate for themselves and the people they love.
Awareness saves lives.
And this movement is only growing.
Thank you for standing with us this Women’s Health Month. 💙
See you in June. And July. And every month after that.

A severe headache isn't always "just a headache."
CVST is a rare but serious brain blood clot that occurs more often in women — and can be linked to hormonal birth control, pregnancy, and clotting disorders.

One moment from our Mississippi Blood Clot Awareness Bus Tour has stayed close to our hearts.
Greenville Mayor Errick Simmons officially proclaimed May 24 as Blood Clot Awareness Day — and 3-time survivor Remelda Lewis said it best: "Blood clots can be prevented. Thank God for this organization coming to the Delta."
Everywhere we went, people told us they had never received this kind of education before. Survivors shared stories. Leaders showed up. Communities connected.
Awareness saves lives. Mississippi — we heard you. We'll be back. ❤️
