This panel fails for two reasons: the boats on the background are a total mess and the black shadows, now done with markers, don't get black at all in some areas. This was a bad decision, but I had to try it out, in my efforts to make comics in color without the use of a computer

I believe I found the most suitable style for my colour panels: uniform line with carefully drawn shadows. Paintbrush strokes and variable line only add confusion due to my limitations, both in technique and patience.

I am happy with the result of this panel. All shadows were made with a nib instead of paintbrush, and I believe there's no lost of expression.

On this panel I decided to leave the lines with the same thickness and to use a nib instead of a paintbrush to make most of the shadows. The result is much less clumsy without the loss of expression. I hope.

Today I got the first rejection to my submissions to publish this on going graphic novel. The rejection standard letter was quite nice, explaining that my project «does not fit our current editorial policy». I feel miserable.

This is the last panel of episode 1 of the graphic novel I am slowly making. Yesterday I started building the presentation of the project to be sent to publishers. I have designed a few characters and now I'm preparing a book cover. Some day I might post both.

Making this panel was a lot of fun. It gave me the opportunity to start diving into details of architecture and vegetation. I expect to explore further and develop the drawing of settings as the story moves forward in the next chapters.

If there were a universal basic income, I could dedicate my time to making comics, writing novels and composing music. I only finish this panel because this week I am out of work. I don't know how it will be next week. Such is the precariousness in my country.

One argument in defiance of the universal basic income is that abusive people would just waste it, instead of paying their daily bills. In my view, the solution is quite simple: social workers to guide incautious and delinquent individuals.

I now finished the second panel for my comic. The freedom to improvise in each phase of the process is a thrill. The creation of colorful images is becoming as fluid as the writing of the story.
