Some Hurricane News. Melissa has been officially retired and won't be used anymore during hurricane season. The name Molly will now replace her. She joins a long list of recent catastrophic 'M' storms that have been retired. We tracked all these storms here on MWP together. 'I' storms and now 'M' storms are ones to watch it does appear. Isaias and Marco are names this year on the list they will be using.
I'm excited to announce that @storm_smart won the @VENICEAREACC Large Business of the year award!
11 years ago I was on this committee and had the fortune of being a judge, so this is a bit of a surreal moment for me. I'm blessed to be with such a fantastic company!
This is the time of year to protect your outdoor living space. Not from Hurricanes but from dew, dirt, pollen, and the chilly breezes that may come December thru March in #southwestflorida. Reach out to me directly for more info on our versatile #StormCatcher screens 941.681.4363
Choosing your #StormCatcher structure color usually boils down to 3 schemes....match the home, match the windows/doors/soffit or match the pool cage frame. These customers in Avelina matched the cage and I think it looks great.#custombuilt#hurricaneshutters
Some people think that I would be happy when hurricanes hit because "theyre good for business." But the truth is, #catastrophichurricanes absolutely break my heart and depress me. #hurricaneamelissa destroyed an island I've never been to and I feel like I lost a loved one.
🙏
@tropicalupdate "Jamaica" -- I made it to the end.
I can tell your heart is heavy right now, and I appreciate that. Mine is too. I'm in the "hurricane industry" too and people assume Im happy when they hit -good for business. But catastrophic #hurricanes depress me everytime...God Bless U Mike!
More and more customers are choosing black-colored #stormcatcher#rolldown#hurricanescreens because it matches the color of the screen cage. On this home, we installed white structure with our unique continuous, mitered hoods for a "crown molding" look. DM for more info.
@MyRadarWX Ian. I live in Englewood, FL. It was my first hurricane and it was a Cat 5. We were in the eyewall for around 8 hours. There was 3 ft of water (up to my mailbox) on my street so I was kayaking the neighborhood with a thermos of hot coffee and a chainsaw to help the neighbors.
Checking out history and the last 100 years. There were 38 storms that were within 60 miles of where Tropical Storm Erin is now. Hurricane Ike 2008 for Texas and Unnamed 1938 for the NE shows as the only 2 to impact the US. https://t.co/Hk3pbO84Yf
I'm not a meteorologist or a prophet, but I do believe it's time to load up on hurricane supplies and ensure your generator is tuned up and ready to roll. The tropics are heating up! Mine starts on the first pull still, 5 years later. 😃
