Who would I be when I was no longer working in a role that still motivated me all those years later. With grandchildren and positive thinking about all the things I could do, I finally took the plunge and handed in my notice at the grand old age of 61.

Story on https://t.co/VkhdDE3lIV - “Supporting my Trans Child”
My child is at the start of their transition. We went straight to the doctor to ask for a referral to the Gender Identity Clinic and three years later they are still waiting for their appointment.
I cannot begin to understand the frustration they feel and I struggle when people refer to my ‘son,’ or ‘the boys’ but since they have not started transitioning socially yet, preferring to wait until they are medically transitioning, the misgendering will continue.

This may stop the confusion of how to pronounce or spell Georgia but it means that at times it looks as if I’ve forgotten my name. I have to pause and think, right what is my name?!

I have to repeat my name several times, almost singing it, every time someone asks ‘Qual é seu nome?’. ‘Meu nome é Georgia’. ‘Chucha?’ ‘Não é Gzeeeeor-gia.‘ ‘Chuucha?’

To avoid this awkwardness I have now created a Brazilian identity for myself. Every time someone asks my name, whether it be a taxi driver or the ladies in the various uni cafes, I now go by the pseudonym of Gabriela.

“If there’s anything I want you to take away from my story, it’s this. I hope you stop living in fear of living your truth. Being authentically you is going to cause some waves but that’s what life is all about.”

You were too caught up in yourself and in who you think you’re supposed to be. You hadn’t matured enough to know that you always deserved to be a priority in many people’s lives.

I was picked on and I remember feeling like there was no escape from it. My grandmother told me to pretend I wasn’t afraid. This turned into pretending to be someone I was not

My boyfriend and I would have a son sometime after that. I was 18 years old and scared out of my mind. Wasn’t completely sure my boyfriend was willing to help take care of my son.

For me there are physical sensations: I get a stab in the chest, a fizz in the brain. But there are also situational triggers. I know anything about my health is likely to send me onto a custard trap.

A big attraction in Mexico are the Cenotes. They are basically caves filled with fresh water and were believed to be the entrance to the underworld by the Mayans.
