Strathmore Square is the redevelopment of the Grosvenor-Strathmore Metro area. It is a collaboration between Fivesquares Development, WMATA and Strathmore.
Just a little throwback to our #popup shops at Grosvenor-Strathmore Metro! Last year, local businesses set up shop in an old 4,000-series Metro railcar to offer baked goods, prepared foods & other amenities to neighbors & commuters. Each pop-up was uniquely decorated & different.
By adding pop-up performances, and a suite of flexible class and rehearsal space visible to passers-by, Strathmore won’t just be adjacent to this new community; it will be an integral part of the site.
With the development of #StrathmoreSquare and its focus on the #arts, the Grosvenor-Strathmore Metro “may be the only Metro stop with its own soundtrack,” according to @strathmore’s President Monica Jeffries Hazangeles.
Through our walking tours, #community meetings and surveys over the past years, we collected input from hundreds of community members and Metro users. The result? An innovative community and gathering place for all to enjoy. #StrathmoreSquare
Community members have told us they want easy access through the site while riding their bikes. So we're adding 2-way separated #bike lanes along Tuckerman Lane. This will ensure #cyclists feel safe as they make their way around Grosvenor-Strathmore Metro. https://t.co/UP0vJx35V7
Calling all #cyclists! Check out this bike runnel, which helps cyclists to easily transport bikes up and down stairs. By incorporating features like the runnel, #StrathmoreSquare will be #bikefriendly and promote cycling as a viable #transportation option. 🚵♀️
“The Only Green Stop on the Red Line!” Grosvenor-Strathmore #Metro is surrounded by more #greenspace than any other Red Line stop. Our plans treat that space as a valuable asset and add even more #openspace to enjoy. #StrathmoreSquare
A creative community is sprouting at Grosvenor-Strathmore #Metro! We're planting the seeds of #StrathmoreSquare right here. A new kind of living experience that will surround a dynamic central green – with culture, arts, transit & fresh outdoor experiences as our centerpieces.
Fivesquares' Principal Andy Altman describes his life-long passion for city planning and the exciting opening of @LifeAtLizDC, a partnership with @whitmanwalker on 14th Street. https://t.co/ptVIewRVZA
#Arts & #Culture, #GreenSpace and #Transit are the three pillars we keep in mind as we create #StrathmoreSquare. It’s a combination of connections to enrich the soul as well as the body. https://t.co/UP0vJx35V7
Join us for a community meeting tonight from 6:30-7:30 PM at the Strathmore Mansion Music Room. Representatives from Clark Construction will be on hand to talk about the Metro Garage expansion, which is soon to get underway. We hope you’ll stop by!
UPDATE: On June 6, the Planning Board unanimously approved the Preliminary Plan for #StrathmoreSquare. This is a significant milestone for the project and we appreciate the community’s valuable input and support, at every step along the way. Read More: https://t.co/AXQEmPVtTC
Thank you to @montgomeryplans for unanimously approving our Sketch Plan application. We appreciate all who emailed & testified in support of #StrathmoreSquare. The next step in the process is submitting our Preliminary Plan. Visit our website: https://t.co/UP0vJx35V7 for updates.
Neighbors have told us the pond we built adjacent to Symphony Park (on the north side of @strathmore along the path to Garret Park) has attracted all kinds of wildlife. If you've seen any wildlife or have any photos, please email us & tell us what you see. https://t.co/YuKVin41yA
Thanks to everyone who joined us on our walking tours. It was great seeing everyone again and meeting new faces. Many of our neighbors participated and heard from @FivesquaresDev Andy Altman & Ron Kaplan talk about our vision for #StrathmoreSquare.
Due to the weather forecast, we're postponing tonight's Walking Tour to tomorrow evening - Oct. 16, 6-7:30pm. Meet at Grosvenor-Strathmore Metro entrance. SPACE IS LIMITED! Please RSVP to [email protected] and include your name & the neighborhood you live in.
(2/2) Neighboring buildings will be connected through beautifully landscaped streets that will weave the entire area into a cohesive neighborhood. #StrathmoreSquare
(1/2) Through our neighborhood engagement efforts, we learned that one of the community's primary goals is the need for #connectivity throughout the area around Grosvenor-Strathmore #Metro station.
