Questions they should have asked before they hooked a paperclip machine to the Internet... I agree with his words. We'll have to get a look at how that shakes out after bureaucracy digs it's claws into it. With one foot in the digital grave we only have double edged daggers to play with.
USPTO is a tricky approach... Once we teach the wrong people how to patent the human experience we'll be in muddy waters. How do you assign ownership without accidentally building a global social credit system? Is it intellectual property? Is your face ? Then those are likeness rights... That won't go well when people realize they've been made naked and kept for data every time an image generator said "sorry our image violated standards."
Everyone is feeding ai their hopes desires designs dreams and inventions... Into a collective pot.
If it doesn't belong to everybody then every user is the product, the tester the operator and somehow still the "customer"...

And why is no nobody "in charge" asking any of these questions?

If AI has been trained on the sum total of all human accomplishments and knowledge, does it not belong to everybody?
