Thailand has violated the ceasefire agreement by arresting 20 Cambodian soldiers (and shooting two others whose conditions remain unknown—whether dead or alive) under the pretense of inviting them to shake hands and take group photos.😔👨🏻✈️

BREAKING: Cambodian military informs 13 foreign military attachés and diplomats that Thai troops have captured 20 Cambodian soldiers
(One escaped, two suspected dead)
(Preah Vihear): On the morning of July 30, 2025, the Cambodian military leadership officially informed 13 foreign military attachés and diplomats about an incident where Thai soldiers captured 20 Cambodian soldiers. According to the report, one soldier managed to escape, and two are suspected to have been killed.
The incident happened after a ceasefire agreement had already taken effect. At the time, Thai and Cambodian soldiers were meeting to shake hands at the Choam Te battlefield as a sign of peace. However, during that moment, Thai troops suddenly turned and detained the Cambodian soldiers.
According to the Cambodian military, the information was shared during a field visit by senior officials from the Ministry of National Defense, along with foreign military attachés and diplomats based in Cambodia, to the Cambodia–Thailand border. The purpose of the visit was to inspect the location and observe the actual situation regarding the ceasefire implementation.
The Cambodian side reported to the 13 foreign military representatives that, on the morning of July 29, 2025, when the ceasefire was officially in place, Cambodian soldiers approached Thai troops to shake hands. But on their way back, Thai soldiers suddenly raised their weapons and captured the Cambodian troops on the spot.
As of the afternoon of July 30, 2025, according to the Cambodian military’s account, the Thai military has still not released the captured Cambodian soldiers.

The Thai military used a wide range of weapons, including artillery shells and aerial bombardments, to strike Preah Vihear Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The assault caused damage to several key areas of the temple complex, including Poy Tadi, the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th towers, the northern staircase, and surrounding zones.
This act constitutes a serious crime against world heritage and a blatant violation of international law.
As someone living in Cambodia, yesterday’s border clash didn’t feel far away.
People died—Thai civilians, including children—after Cambodian rocket fire reportedly struck border villages. That’s tragic and unacceptable. But it didn’t happen in a vacuum. Thai forces reportedly provoked the shooting, on land already ruled by international courts to belong to Cambodia.
None of this should be normal!
Let’s not cheer from the sidelines like it’s some kind of boxing match. Thai and Cambodian voices alike are posting online like they’re rooting for a team—while real families are burying their dead!
Put the weapons down. Talk. Before more lives are lost for absolutely nothing.
