The children were learning about Chinese New Year last week and were invited to try a small sample of Chinese style food ranging from egg fried rice, noodles, spring rolls and prawn crackers.
It was lovely to welcome The Glasgow Science Centre On Tour this week as they delivered a workshop to the children. The pupils learnt all about the human body and digestion with lots of interactive exhibits to enhance the learning experience. #GSCOnTour@gsc1
In light of the Met Office's red weather warning, all schools and early years settings in Argyll and Bute will close tomorrow (Friday 24 January) to ensure the safety of pupils and staff.

We had our Christmas Afternoon Tea last week for our families and friends. The pupils enjoyed taking part running their nail bar and crafting stalls to name a few. They entertained us all with some singing and poems.
The children were very creative last week preparing their light up Christmas Wreaths for the community. Every year they make Christmas decorations to hang on the railings for the Kilmun Village Hall. The pupils enjoyed an afternoon of Christmas activities.
The children recently participated in two days of outdoor learning at the Ardentinny Outdoor Centre. They experienced activities such as gorge walking ,archery ,orienteering to name a few. A huge thank you to all the staff at Ardentinny for a memorable two days!
It has been a week of spooky activities to celebrate Halloween, beginning with a "Green Halloween" workshop from the GRAB trust ,lots of class themed learning and our Halloween party with the traditional party games and dooking for apples!
This week we invited the Scottish Association of Marine Science to Strone to deliver a two day workshop. We learnt all about our oceans ,the sounds of the sea and their ecosystems, discovering how satellites look after our oceans. Thank you @SAMSoceannews for a great input!
Our P7s have been taking part in Bikeability this week,learning all about bike maintenance and safety. They have been developing their skills in a safe environment before taking them onto the road. A huge thank you to instructors Gus and Duncan for facilitating these sessions.
It has been lovely to welcome Abigail Pryde back to Strone Primary this term, to continue teaching our older pupils the fiddle. Some of our pupils are taking part in the Dunoon Trad Fest this weekend. We wish you lots of luck with your performance!
Our P7s took part in Active Schools Primary School Sports Leader training this week. Pupils worked with Active Schools and the Dunoon Grammar Sports Leaders, learning how to set up and run extra-curricular activities in their own schools.
A reminder that our Parent Council will be holding their AGM on Wednesday 18th September at 6.15pm in the school. Open to all Parents/Carers and all interested local residents.
On Monday the children visited Benmore as part of the Benmore Schools' Week .The P1-P3 workshop used their senses to find out the secrets of the trees. Our P5-P7s explored different ways of experiencing their habitat and practiced creative mapping techniques.
