Not a bot. Cataloger who comes complete with the full set of associated stereotypes. Opinions my own and made more sense when I thought of them at 3 AM.
Note to self: your reading glasses are on your head. They're always on your head. There is no need to disrupt the carefully-arranged chaos on your desk every 30 minutes. #librarylife
@scstatelibrary makes state and federal documents available online— the #StateDocument below is literally only a click away! The cataloging and metadata librarians are hard at work making these easy to find and access. #libraries#cataloging#metadata
DHEC makes it easier for women to take control of their health and document the journey with its Wisewoman Welcome Booklet. The clear directions and space for notes help make it our choice for the December 2021 featured state document. Find it at https://t.co/mxvdh4jiog. @scdhec
Look, there's just too much cataloging and classification to keep to four issues a year, and we're considerate enough not to make extra name authority work by changing the name.
😹It all started in 1911, with this @internetarchive digitized book: "Kittens & Cats: A First Reader"

Q5: I like being able to say “this is the (insert OSS tool) that I use to do this thing.” It’s recruitment by way of showing— not telling— that a specific OSS tool is useful. It’s also like an introduction to the larger world of OSS that’s less overwhelming. #ChatOpenS
Fitting in one more - Q5: Have you introduced any colleagues/friends to OSS? What was your elevator speech? How can we grow the community of OSS adopters & contributors? #ChatOpenS
We’re moving on to Q3 but feel free to chime in on earlier questions - Q3: What are some good OSS ‘swaps’ for common software? (LibreOffice, Thunderbird, Steam) #ChatOpenS
@roganhamby @tkatie217 @FeliciaBeaudry Since Nintendo has already come up, I’ll mention that Pokémon Go uses OpenStreetMap. Feel like a lot of players have become acquainted with adding to and modifying data sets for the sake of adding in-game stops. #ChatOpenS
@roganhamby @FeliciaBeaudry @EquinoxOLI There’s definitely a difference in talking about programs that are “visibly” available (GIMP, LibreOffice, etc.) and components that aren’t readily visible to the user. The stealth open office components deserve attention, too. #ChatOpenS
@LauraRuthBarry Or on a coffee mug, for the fall theme! It is easy to take open source tools for granted. We’re just so used to them being available (and then we forget the hard work that goes into developing and maintaining). #ChatOpenS
Q1: I’ve worked with #evgils in a library setting. I use Open Office and OpenRefine frequently. Its always hard to name all the open source software I use, because I forget things are open source. Really integrated into everyday life. #ChatOpenS
