The STTA YCM Alumni Programme Launches!
Earlier this week we invited alumni of the STTA Young Change-Makers Programme to a breakfast meeting to discuss a restructuring of the programme. Particularly, to create further value value not only of the students in the programme but also for the leaders and professionals it produces.
These discussions were fruitful and led to resolutions that will surely push the programme and it's members to further heights. Keep an eye out for further development and follow our official page @STTA Young Change Makers Programme

Today @GonaJudy is speaking at Africa Capital Week hosted by Vision 2030 on how responsible capital can be used to reset tourism in Africa for more equitable development in the sector.
Judy says the tourism is skewed in terms of development and an opportunity exists for responsible/green capital to reset the imbalance
Here is a question for all tourism brands with sustainability labels. Would you pass an impromptu sustainability assessment? How woukd tour perform? If thus questions illuminates "dark" spots tgat need polishing before assessments, then let's talk.
You may find this useful if you work with communities in tourism and conservation. Equity and proof of consent are not negotiable in community partnerships.

What if we all lived a little more like elephants? 🐘
This World Elephant Day 2026, the campaign focus is simple and profound: "Be more like elephants."
Think about it. Elephants are; Deeply empathetic, they comfort each other in distress; Unforgetting - they remember faces, places, and paths for decades; Protective of their herd – they circle the young and vulnerable; and Fiercely loyal – they form bonds that last a lifetime.
Elephants show up for each other. They grieve. They celebrate. They remember. Why can't we emulate these traits as humans?
Today, be more like an elephant. Protect your herd. Remember what matters. Lead with your heart.
And while you're at it, here's how to protect the real elephants:
✅ Support conservation organisations working on the ground in Kenya.
✅ Choose responsible tourism that prioritises elephant welfare.
✅ Speak up against wildlife crime – it crosses borders, and so must our advocacy.
Protect our elephants. Protect our heritage. Protect our Kenya.

The one step most businesses skip when it comes to building sustainable tourism brands is identifying a framework to guide their journey. This is the most expensive mistake a business can make today because of legislation related to unverified claims. Without a framework, actions risk falling under unverified claims.
Send a DM and lets review your sustainability claims

This year we couldn't abandon the new tradition and held the competition again, opening the doors for more thinkers to express their views around this year theme 'Choose to Refuse'. We received several entries and are happy to announce that we have a new cohort of winners!
In partnership with Lets Go Travel Uniglobe we hosted a successful competition that brought us fresh ideas and perspectives from the minds of our young leaders within the programme.

In 2025 we made a bold decision and introduced the #inkthechange blog competition; where in the month of July we invited our young leaders to write short blogs on their unique experiences and thinkings around plastics within the tourism industry and possible unexplored solutions
