It’s been a privilege to work for the BBC. I still value it, the important role it plays and hope those who remain can respond to the DG’s call for a pioneering spirit to keep it fit and relevant. Tchakka-chaow for now.
One of the things I’ll miss is having access to the BBC’s vast digital library. I’ve loved including its archive in my edits. It’s a reminder of the BBC’s incredible history, which I’m grateful to have been a small part of. May I never lose interest in old idents.
Gutted. I worked closely with George on the latest version of the Newsnight theme. He was a lovely man and leaves behind a wealth of wonderful and iconic music.
The composer George Fenton has died at the age of 76.
His music included Blue Planet, Planet Earth and multiple movies - Baftas + Emmys and received five Oscar nominations.
He composed BBC TV news theme tunes including the memorable Newsnight music.
Fantastic #DoctorWho ‘The Savages’ doc from @TobyHadoke and @StuartDenman
Felt like the first in-depth analysis of the latter part of S3 we’ve had, with some brand new interviews and the most wonderful story of two married actors ❤️
90mins flew by. Well worth the price alone.
All I can say is I was in awe of Clem's drumming while I was shooting it but my mind was completely blown the longer I spent editing his footage. Utterly mesmerising. RIP.
About 10 years ago I directed a shoot of Blondie performing at BBC Maida Vale. I had cameras everywhere, of course, including one pointed at drummer Clem Burke while I manned another over his shoulder. I then spent two weeks editing it all into an hour long programme...
