I really like this about the first game, being forced to survive while existing in a neutral to hostile environment made me change how I played and I think it was absolutely the right thing.
This is why I think developers should be meaner. The fact a simple interaction about the artistic direction of a game spiralled into a controversy because of the fragile entitlement of gamers and grifters is why I think developers should be assholes honestly

Funny how well that map lines up with local topography and the locations of state parks…
I’m all for more housing but the answer is building upwards in developed areas to house a lot of people, not putting 5 over 1’s on Mount Diablo or data centers in the south bay’s salt pools
I will say, as an SF techbro, one thing about a certain kind of SF tech worker that annoys me is the "I'm too good to use public transit" type
Kinda person who lives in Pac Heights / North Beach and owns a car/ubers everywhere then complains about traffic
If you asked Claude to build you a house it would build you the most beautiful house, and then you’d go inside and you’d be like, “Claude there’s no bathrooms.” And Claude would say, “There were no bathrooms before either, so it’s actually a pre-existing issue”
How far can you go in 30m in San Francisco?
I built isochrones from the center of 40 neighborhoods to show how far you can walk, bike, drive, & ride transit
An isochrone shows the distance you can travel when time is held constant (iso - same; chrone - time)
There are interesting takeaways on the state of public transit and infrastructure in sf - full analysis (and app) out soon
I don’t know how obvious Arrowhead has to be. But in case you missed it:
The start of the Galactic War was called “A Special Military Operation to secure freedom”. Until the bots attacked in force to liberate Cyberstan from Super Earth, it then became the Galactic War on Tyranny or “GWOT”. And now we are invading their capital planet to secure weapons of mass destruction WE designed and built.
This isn’t new either, the illuminate attempted to negotiate peace with us originally but we declared their dark matter tech a weapon of mass destruction, faked a terror attack and genocided them. We then fought a decades long war against the terminids to secure oil supplies. And all of it was funded by corporations which sponsor the military industrial complex.
Now we find out the Cyborgs, who we repressed and enslaved, sent a message to super earth offering peace and an end to hostilities. But because they are communists they are an enemy to freedom so we intentionally mistranslated their message into a threat and have mobilized to exterminate them.
So we have a Special Military Operation, Leading into the GWOT, which we are fighting because we made evil geopolitical decisions half a century ago. And we are fighting it to secure oil supplies, justify the authoritarian regime of our society and legitimise the war effort by either false flagging terror attacks or accusing the enemy of having WMDs….
I don’t know how much more obvious they could be without the new president of super earth coming to power after the super earth senate is burned down by cyborg dissidents.
the best advice i can give to any moderator is to pretend like its your chatters first day on earth and explain things to them like a preschooler 😊
however it only works 70% of the time because they all still have the reading levels like a preschooler 😔

Really interesting piece on how University of Chicago professors helped a national network of food banks get surplus food much more efficiently to where it's needed, by creating an internal auction market. https://t.co/s1RYXerO0q
@NotOPFOR@radubuilds@scaling01 If there is a long list of conditions (or the conditions are long named variables) I think it makes more sense to do
if (longVar1AndChange &&

@F1zzy_soda @BikeLaneEnjoyer @Colin_d_m the biggest problem is if you have 2 lines converging real close to a terminal, then the signals cause trains to block each other
