.@NYCSchools take a lesson from Baltimore. #CloseNYCSchools
If Baltimore can do this, so can we. I'd even volunteer for sure to help out...https://t.co/mhK0nDhGOO
Due to the concerns of coronavirus, we are postponing our first Community Roundtable. It will be reschedule for another day! Thank you for understanding and we will be keeping you all posted.
The fact that a single absence can hurt a child's future is never okay. This confirms what we already know, that the DOE can change attendance screens. Now that all students are being hurt by them, not just low-income students, it's not a coincidence we see change being made.
NYC high schools are 1 giant district. That's why we need a comprehensive solution. Tweaking a few schools here and there is not enough. We want to eliminate discriminatory screens & switch to universal "ed opt" admissions.
@NYCmayor if you dont like our plan, where is yours?
ONE YEAR AGO today, we launched our first direct-action organizing campaign, calling on @NYCMayor to take immediate steps to integrate NYC high schools.
We have been busy since then. He has not. [Thread ⬇️]

On 2/5, we held the panel discussion “Battling School Segregation: 1964 and 2020.” Student activists from Teens Take Charge and Integrate NYC discussed the issue and announced they are calling for a citywide school boycott on 5/18. #SchomburgCenter@TeensTakeCharge @integratenyc
Covering the 2020 election isn’t just a job for professional journalists. Here are some tools and tips to help student journalists with their coverage. https://t.co/HY5YtJW5a2
By failing to protect high school student journalists, Virginia's House of Delegates have only upheld the status quo. Any meaningful New Voices legislation must protect high school student journalists and advisers, and we hope Virginia will do so in 2021. https://t.co/5c8r7iNUdZ
Malcolm X was a prominent figure in the Civil Rights Movement who advocated for Black nationalism and armed self-defense. Having grown up in foster care and then sentenced to 6.5 years in confinement, Malcolm X became an avid reader and joined the Nation of Islam while imprisoned
Malcolm X promoted knowledge and self-love to combat internalized racial inferiority. However, he was not only an advocate for Black power; he was also a proud Muslim. He publicly showed love for the Black Islamic community and warned people of the media's power to indoctrinate
We are formally announcing our plans with @integratenyc for a daylong, citywide boycott of @NYCSchools on May 18 to protest @NYCMayor's inaction to address the crisis of segregation in our schools. Join us at https://t.co/IiOyfYaX7T. #IntegrateNOW
Ella Baker was a civil & human rights activist known for her organizing in the Civil Rights Movement. A community mobilizer, she once said, “Strong people don’t need strong leaders.” She spent her life fighting for justice & is the example we seek to follow! #BlackHistoryMonth
Actions speak louder than words! Radical action is needed to give every student- no matter their color or background- an equal opportunity. @NYCMayor what good does it do to have power if you use it sitting and quoting people who would be shaking their heads at you? #integratenow
