Building Identity Vol. 1 is live. Weโre scouting the monumental brutalism of Estadio Azteca and the industrial shift of the @BuffaloBills. Design is the soul of the project. ๐๏ธ๐๏ธ

I know Jays suck right now, but I built this anyway:

It's a daily stats panel that uses Fangraphs, MLB Stats and Savant data to show a ton of interesting information. I'm constantly adding new things too.
I made this for the people, so RTs appreciated.
@Firebirds The ATO scramble is wild. Having the goalie coach back up a rookie making his AHL debut is pure cinema. Huge night for the Firebirds' front office and Terness. This is why people watch sports!
6 months ago, Mainoo's UEL Semi-Final equalizer kept United's season alive.
Today, he sits.
United are taking a huge asset proven on the European stage and benching him to force a tactical setup that simply isn't working consistently.
@Brandon_N_Wile The leverage from that World Series run is exactly what allows them to land world-class assets like Tyler Rogers. You pay the tax to buy the credibility that recruits elite talent. The ROI on that $13.6M tax bill is already visible.
Getting rid of Berube is only a conversation because the organization can't move the top players due to their NMCs. They're like a person stuck with a bad mortgage because nobody wants the house. He's the only asset they can liquidate to shake things up.
@TSN_Sports@TheAthletic While the headline is 'Low Attendance,' the real story is the economics of Price Fatigue and the Blue Jays' market dominance.
I broke down the full financial cause-and-effect in the first issue my newsletter: https://t.co/sPGsmMq8or
@wyshynski@PuckPedia Textbook example of Arbitrage. They bought an asset at the 'June Price' (3rd + 4th) and sold it at the 'December Price' (2nd + 4th).
They basically used their cap space to upgrade a 3rd Rounder into a 2nd Rounder for free. That is great asset management.
@AZadarski In 2003, that pick cost nothing and there was no Salary Cap. Fast forward to the bottom of the tree, and those assets (Laine/Danault) now command $10M+ in cap space.
It shows how much harder 'holding' assets has become in the modern cap era.
@BlueJays Is this a temporary hangover, or the new normal for the NHL's biggest brand?
broke down the full financial picture, the data, and what it means for the business of hockey in my first newsletter.

The impossible is happening in Toronto. For decades, the Maple Leafs were a financial fortress. Even with "lackluster performances," Scotiabank Arena was always full. That era is officially over. The data is undeniable, and shocking...๐งต๐
Why? MLSE will say it's "just a blip." The reality is more complicated. It's what economists call "price fatigue." When the @BlueJays went on a historic World Series run in October, they monopolized the city's attention, and its wallets. The Leafs are paying the price.
