It was 10 Times harder for me as an IMG from an ethnic minority, trying to thrive in the NHS community of practice.
Starting from having 3 NTNs after RLMT back in 2018 (which is similar to the prioritisation bill coming on the way), it was seen as a miracle to have one at the time (ranked 2nd nationally in interviews).
I lost my dad & mum at ST3 then ST5, both unexpectedly, both in ICU, where my speciality is, had to go through WLST as a co-patient twice in 18 months apart.
My parents, Omer & Madiha, taught me that Education is the most important weapon a woman should have in her life. Despite the conservative Arab culture, they pushed me hard in Education, let me immigrate to the West early in life, supported me in every challenge, and always wanted me to lead in my field and never settle for being an average person.
I am very grateful to Cork, Ireland, and Liverpool for being a lovely, warm home for the past decade.
I look forward to another adventure in London!
