The sad thing is that this is the plight of almost every temple city and town in Tamil Nadu. Despite having the largest number of ancient, pristine temples in the country, and despite the immense revenue they generate for the state, these temple precincts are treated like this.
The old quarters of these cities and towns are infested with posters, stray cattle, stray dogs, and overhead utility wires.
I don't understand why the government doesn't restore and maintain them to world-class standards when they are among the state's biggest sources of tourism revenue.
